Have you driven it in the light and seen how bad the surface is ?
I think this is the first resurface since it was built in early 2000’s
Is it a red trailer or a yellow trailer today ?
I’m on about when the racing is on.
I’m not sure of the colour of the trailer,we have different colours…
It was crap when first laid and they’ve been bodging it up every now and again as it sinks and breaks up, waste of time of course because the whole bloody thing collapses again after a few months, a nice little repeat earner for someone.
Surprised i haven’t been pulled and breathalysed cos i spend half the time straddling the ns close to the verge so as to pass over, not through, the furrows that comprise the usual wagon tracks in the ns lane, after about the third time moving over the left continuous white line to miss the worse the wagon tells me off, hence lane departure gets switched off when on that section.
Anyone hit that other infamous section at speed, namely the A34 northbound about 1/4 mile north of the A420 jct ns lane?..though the southbound had a corker of its own near enough same place till recently so maybe the NB hole has been filled, haven’t been that way for a couple of months, i hang well back along there so can see the furrow and straddle it, amazing the number of bods behind the wheel that just drive straight through these horrendous pot holes.
Work has to be done at night, it would take the whole year to resurface a section at a time operating one lane and the queues even now its still relatively quiet would be ten miles back all day long.

Another shocking road surface is the A3 south at the wooden bridge inside lane is like a cart track as it’s sinking and the outside lane has started as to sink as well

If you want bad roads try the B660 (presently closed) from the A1 to Ramsey or the A151 from A1 to Spalding or the A1175 from Stamford to Spalding. Spine and kidney crushing routes.

Just a few years ago when Police were still in charge of traffic management, the A43 would remain open for through traffic up until around 5am on Sunday (even though the roadsigns advised otherwise). Once they had hived it off to private contractors, it all got a bit “Jobsworth” and the road closure was applied from Friday evening right through until Monday morning. Part of the reason being that now it’s all done with extensive deployment of cones, barriers and numerous temporary traffic signals, all of which take significant time and effort to put in place (and later remove) while back in the day it was all hands-on with several dozen coppers deployed on traffic control.
I have many happy(!) memories of starting around 4am on the Sunday, being bussed into the circuit and fed/watered before being dumped out on some godforsaken traffic point for eight hours to get everyone in, then back to the circuit for refreshments before being deployed to control the expected “track invasion” at the end of the race and then being dumped back on the same traffic point for another six hours or so to get everyone back out again. As the traffic flow dwindled we’d regroup at the circuit before being bussed back to base again around 2 in the morning. ■■■■■■■■ even cancelled our Rest Days in advance so we only got paid time and a third for anything over 8 hours as it was a normal working day.
