A380 oversize loads

I’ve been watching an interesting programme on Eden tonight about the A380 project. The logistics of getting all the sections together seems a headache, some interesting pictures of oversized loads on French roads:

Those are big loads. Wasn’t there a link to a really old film from the 50’s or even earlier on here a while back of a massive pipe or chimney being moved along UK roads?

I thought you were on about The Eden Project in Cornwall. I was wondering why they would have taken the bits down the A380 and not the A30 or A38.

We were on Holiday last week in Cornwall on one of our days out we went to St Mawes which looks out onto to Falmouth Bay & anchored up waiting to go into Falmouth was a ship with Airbus inside written on it. Does anybody know what parts they would be collecting or anything about it,

Might be the one that comes up to Mostyn for the, I think, the wings ■■

It got stuck earlier this year

Blimey mate that was quick  . That’s the one ok I got the wording wrong Airbus Inside instead of Airbus on Board…that was over a week ago & I can’t even remember what I did today

You could well be right mate, I think there is more than one of them :open_mouth:

I was at St Mawes the week before! Went on the ferry to Falmouth too  .

As you were.

the barge they use to transport the wings from the factory to the ship was moored up in seaforth docks the other weeks.thats also in airbus colours.bur never seen it come down the river yes even though i go over the brigde at conners quay to flint.

I watched the program last year I think. Was really interesting if I remember they actually designed and built a transport carrier to move the fuselage.

Fancy flying one anyone…?

Pimpdaddy:

I wouldn’t mind trying a 3 point turn in one now that would be amusing .

This is a good video, starts at 17 seconds in:

Apparently they have to go through all this for EVERY 380. Seems a very inefficient way of building an aircraft

You should view the ITER video on the independent web site if you like heavy haulage…
