A36 Crash - What was this guy thinking?

Just curious Toby, but as you knew him somewhat, are you saying this was out of character? In which case sudden total insanity is my diagnosis.

Edit: Surely causing death by dangerous driving would have applied here.

that selfish arrogant ■■■■■■■ got his just desserts but in doing so took two innocent lives… so sad… :frowning:

Shame he didn’t live to be left with crippling injuries and to be banged up for Manslaughter !!

What’s the going rate for death by dangerous, 3 or 4 years? It’s not adequate. If someone did that to my partner I think I’d be glad if they died too. The thought of them walking the streets having fun and enjoying life at some point in the future after killing one of my family under those circumstances would really get to me.

More than that surely ? I wouldn’t mind him surviving if he had crippling injuries and was paralysed or something really bad so he’d suffer for the rest of his life .

I respect your sentiments bb but, ok he suffers but so does the nhs and innocent others related to this piece of crap…

Carryfast said he may have been rushing to a meeting , I don’t think so .
I have known Ian since 1989 , his first marriage was to Karen , her family owned a large mobile crane business .
He had two sons from their marriage , one son is a very successful company owner of a hamburger chain .His other son now runs Ian’s pub near Bath .

Ian owned or co-owned a Mazda dealership and painting /repair garage .
His pub regularly had helicopters landing nearby , with famous people dining .
Nobody will know why he was driving like that .

To be fair the possible theory I was thinking of would have involved a ‘bit’ more than just a ‘meeting’.While those type of speeds in those conditions suggests either absolutely no fear of the law whatsoever or the potential consequences.‘Or’ something much more to fear than the law or the potential consequences. While loads of pubs have helicopters landing on the premises all the time.As George might have said to Reagan it might be worth a shufti guvnor.

Far point there Carryfast , the point I forgot to add was that Mole Valley shuts at 17.30 but the accident was about 13.20 , so no need or reason to drive in that manner of the video from the lorry driver he was overtaking .
Did you notice three cameras on the lorry he overtook , one on the roof of the cab facing rearward .
One on the lower offside of the lorry cab and one forward facing from the front of the lorry cab ,so he was well covered in that aspect .

His second wife Adele stated he never took risks and drove competently but drove fast , is the answer to who asked if the accident was out of character.
