A34 crash

kimmy:
Thank-you for the NICE messages and good wishes. It was my brother in the cartwrights lorry (green one), he is an excellent driver, the police said if it hadn’t been for his quick decision then he wouldn’t be here today. It took 40 mins to cut him free and he was then air lifted to hospital. He is doing o.k but looks like he will be in hospital for the next month and then a min of 3 months to make a full recovery. I discovered this website by chance and was warmed by the messages, i have passed them on to my bro. It’s nice to think that others care and the messages do really get to the heart of the people who matter. Thanks again

I’m not familiar with either company or either driver but I drove past along the M4 and from what I saw, I saw enough. Although you must all be going through hell with worry right now, to be told your brothers actions probably saved his life and possibly those of others, by the police investigators and doctors must be of some comfort for you. All the best to your brother and your family over the coming months. The same sentiment goes.out to the other driver and his family too.

Great news, I guess your Bro was working out of Hykeham then ■■?, was offered a job there a year or more back but couldn’t get my head around their crazy shift patterns

Give him a poke in the eye for us, and hope he mends quick

@kimmy, hope your brother recover’s from this terrible accident to drive another day also hope the Warrens driver recovers as well, from what has been posted it appears he had become ill before the actual collision so I hope everything works out for him.

All the best guy’s

You’re welcome, glad bro is on the mend…

Fair enough Paul. Am I right in thinking if you keep slowing & accelerating you increase fuel consumption, journey time & brake wear, not to mention risk of a rear end shunt…? We are encouraged to use cruise control as much as possible(& it’s not adaptive, co won’t pay for that), by driving in the manner you’re telling me to it defeats the point. Remember that we’re driving ‘commercially’ here so I want the shortest journey time, cause minimal wear to the vehicle & above all not crash, coming across 20+ tesco pricks doing 50 during my shift ain’t beneficial to me-#simples…!!!

Oh shut up you ■■■■.

He won’t shut up, that’s the point, from the ridiculous statements he makes, it is probably a spotty little 15yr old virgin who’s parents won’t let him play MW3 as it’s too grown up, he’s blocked from adult sites, so can only try and mess with people on here, that must be the case, after all, aren’t all real lorry drivers sensible people who never talk ■■■■■■■■

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to both drivers involved! Looks nasty, but its a possibility to all who use the roads nowadays :frowning:

Still struggling to work out how your a prick though, if your lorry is restricted to 50? There must be a lot of pricks in this industry!

I must be missing out on something here, but has the national speed limit been raised from 50 on dual carriageways   Not that i or many people on here stick to it

I cannot see how you can slag off a driver for sticking to the speed limit,be it by their choice or company policy

Hope both drivers involved in this incident pull through ok,i say incident as no facts have come to light of the cause, on this forum as of yet :exclamation:

Pimpdaddy, we’re off thread here so I’ll keep it short and sweet.
Another driver and myself left Knowsley for Southampton at the same time, he’s a flat out everywhere driver, I was a 50-52mph on motorway and upto the limit everywhere else driver. On the A34 I spotted him stopped in a layby, so I pulled in for my 45 behind him, by time I’d stopped, organised my paperwork, put my kettle on, put my tacho on break and walked over to his cab, his tacho was showing SIX minutes break, massive difference :unamused:

You don’t have to brake to slow down, there’s a thing called ‘off’ on the cruise control, you could always try using that, and some forward planning, if it looks like it’s going to get busy as you catch the guy in front, but is quiet now, pull out earlier, make the job easy for yourself and others.

Now, back to the OP. @kimmy, thanks for the update, best wishes to your bro and the other driver, not sure where people are getting it sounds like he had a problem though, I thought it was the other truck that had a problem? Hopefully both will be ok, the metal can be repaired easy enough.

RIP drive…
Very strange to have 2x lorries in an accident along there, normally a dangerous place for motorbikes.

I drive mainly for Tesco and get forced to tailgate. Why you ask? because the majority of [zb] that overtake me then pull back in trying to clean my windscreen is increasing on a daily basis.

Sick and tired of it, its not us choosing to do 50. Its only a matter of time before a Tesco lorry is involved in this type of crash.

Sorry for holding you all up.

I do sincerely hope a tesco wagon is involved in this type of crash, might make you guys & the powers that be realise that driving that slow can also be dangerous. If you don’t like people trying to clean your windscreen might I suggest complaining in numbers to management & get the limiters restored to what they should be…!!! :imp:

Thank you for your kind words, I sincerely hope that you are never involved in this type of crash or any other crash for that matter.

Bye now.

A couple of lines painted on the road and a camera to record the ‘box’ this creates, more than one vehicle in the box (at normal speeds) and the one behind gets nicked, as they do in Germany

Because that’s just what we need more opportunities to lose our licences / wages / freedom

Are you for real :unamused:

A clean licence is no good to a dead man, dead men do not earn any wages at all, dead men don’t have much freedom :bulb:

If you drive the lorry properly and maintain a safe following distance, you have nothing to fear :bulb:

If you want to drive around like a [zb] and sit up the arse of the lorry in front, I hope that your pathetic attitude doesn’t come back and bite you on the arse, but if it does, I’ll post an RIP on the thread in your honour

Yeah I’m for real and your making assumptions.
I don’t drive up the arses of other lorries but at the same time I don’t want big brother threatening me with a fine if I did get too close. I’ll decide how I drive my truck and if my ‘pathetic attitude’ comes back and bites me in the arse then I would be disgusted to have a fascist like you post anything in my honour.
