COMMUTERS are facing chaos this morning after a major route was closed in the early hours f

ollowing a fatal crash.

It happened at Poulner Hill, close to Ringwood, at 2.30am.

This morning the A31 is closed westbound from the end of the M27 in Hampshire up to Ashley Heath.

The M27 is closed from junction 2 onwards as well.

Traffic is also heavy this morning heading out of Bournemouth and eastbound on the A31.

Emergency services were called to the crash at about 2.30am after the collision between a BMW and a lorry.

It is believed the car left the carriageway and crashed into the parked lorry. The driver of the BMW died following the collision

Is there such an offence as causing death by dangerous parking?? Wouldnt be surprised if one day a trucker gets this pinned on him!

having just seen the local news and living in ringwood i can confirm the truck was parked up properly in a lay by seperated from the main dual carriageway by a kerb and grass area. the lay by was 2 lanes wide to enable vehicles to park and others to get past them without difficullty and as the accident happened at about 2.30am its seems fair to say the driver of the truck which i bielieve was foreign registered was fast asleep.

the accident was about 1.5 miles before ringwood just past the shell garage and part way down poulner hill nearly opposite the in excess garden
pictures on the local news show impact on the right hand rear corner with rear super single ripped of and the car which was supposed to be a bmw in lots of bits
driver would of been killed instantly and again local news states he was a local man aged 53
