A21 Opening delayed 6 months

Surprise surprise the A21 widening at Pembury is going to over run by 6 months :unamused: bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-38104273

I only have the misfortune to use that stretch once every 6 months or so, and there doesn’t seem to have been any progress over the past year. One of the worse set of roadworks I’ve ever encountered

Makes a change from the usual
“We’ve found the habitat in the woods of the 'Lesser Spotted Deep Warbling Toad, and we can’t disturb his natural breeding habitat, otherwise they will all die”

FFS These roadworks have been going on for ■■? 3, 4 , 5 maybe even 6 years !!! And now they have now found out some buried noxious substance, it’s in the middle of what used to be a very nice wooded area, so it’s not down to industry. Is this for real?

Every time I have gone past the site I have always wondered:-
Why is it taking so long? , Why aren’t the earth movers “moving” ? Why isn’t any body working there, Why IS IT TAKING SO F’ING LONG to actually make progress on this site, at this rate this long overdue bottle neck will not be finished till , WHO KNOWS !
And if it doesn’t get finished, will they put back that little Shell petrol station :unamused:

I’ve had the pleasure of it 4 times in the last 3 weeks north and south bound :imp:

Hardly a surprise. Kent County Council announced only a few weeks ago that a town centre traffic scheme would be delayed from a November finish until next year. In spite of the proximity of local Ragstone quarries, from among which Westminster Abbey was built, the delay has been caused by the late/non arrival of ‘essential’ ornamental stone from…
…China!

:open_mouth: It would be the same as Dorset CC saying the same about Weymouth or Dorchester when Portland is just down the road

You’ve obviously never been near the works on the M8, M73 and M74 then. [emoji33][emoji33]

So I won’t see much change then :frowning: as it’s been at least 2 months since I been up there

Shouldn’t be too bad if you try and avoid rush hour. Only good thing is that these works are on target to finish spring 2017 as planned. So hopefully there’s only a few months of chaos left.
