why in Gods name are all the westbound lay by’s on the A14 west of the A1 , including the emergency ones , all coned off and un-usable
Needed a 45 last night and planned to use one , as you do , just after Brampton Hut , as that was full . It wasn’t till Trapston that I finally found somewhere to legally park . WTF ■■ Even then I had to park in such a way that my " break " was nothing of the sort . Every one was coned and a red sign stated " Lay by not in use " . No plant equipment parked up , all empty .
Can someone tell my why and more importantly WHERE are we supposed to take breaks in the area FFS , especially if drivers are not as familiar with the area . I’m just glad I had hours to get back to the yard .
Anyone from the HA or Northants CC reading this care to explain .
This was happening around Newmarket earlier in the year, most lay-bys closed whilst they were installing matrix signs.
I contacted HA regarding where were we supposed to park? Their answer was that the contractors could close any lay-by if they felt it was necessary on safety grounds. They were closed 24/7 despite the work being carried out only at night. There was no answer regarding where we should park.

same round ipswich when they was putting up the matrix signs which are still not working…cones can be moved so can signs if no one sees you how can they prove it was you…
