Because a) I don’t want to be the first to know of a change in ACPO speed enforcement guidance, and b) I get paid an hourly rate, I drive at 50 mph on NSL dual carriageways (sorry if you get stuck behind). I’m surprised at the number of drivers who ignore the lane 2 weight limit going away from Catthorpe. I thought failing to obey a prohibition sign was three points, plus another potential 3 for speed? Is it not really enforced? Has anyone heard of anyone getting done for this?
I travel that section of the A14 frequently and have thus far never seen anyone pulled up on the side by police/vosa etc, so can only guess that it is not regularly enforced. It was originally a trila zone but i believe it and others like it have now been adopted as a success… , having said that, it is infuriating on these journey time trial sections, when you either get stuck behind mr 25mph up the hill fully loaded artic, but moreso when its mr or mrs modern car doing 40
, personally i follow the signage for the most part, but will admit to having overtaken both of these on occasion when other traffic is light.
Often use the A14, wont overtake on the limited sections when loaded but like [zb] i
m going to sit behind something when im empty just so numpty sales rep can get to his appointment 5 minutes early. These really are a stupid idea thought up by some faceless prat sat behind a desk who probably got home five minutes late after being stuck behind a truck. Sorry but if it
s that important not to hold the car drivers up instead of putting a weight limit on the second lane build a bloody crawler lane.
Forum Rule 3
Re-spelling or doctoring a word to get it past the censor does NOT suddenly make the word allowable. dd.
I won’t hesitate to overtake a slower motor. If you are not driving flat out, be courteous and speed up. Watching ten lorries bunch up behind you is far more dangerous than doing 6mph more. It causes more problems when you leave the ban too
Yup i agree with every post above - if you have the power and can simply overtake and then pull back to the nearside - it doesn’t seem logical not to
i got stuck on this section last week - m/t 560 horses lol - a slow and heavy in the nearside and caravan in the offside - prat with the caravan couldn’t even take the slow mover - but was adamant he wasn’t going to pull over - the queue of cars was getting a joke and nearly each one offered the caravan tugger a coffee or two sugars lol
cheers
Steve
That section is what, 2 or 3 miles in length? Wonder how you manage with the sections over here in Germany that are 50 - 60 miles in length? And where ignoring the signs is for the most part going to lighten your wallet.
i have never seen a traffic cop pull over a truck for flouting the weight limit, even some truck drivers from a well known green and red firm who have a depot near crick just off the M1 dont obey it either - they put their stetsons on as they approach the restriction and yeeeehaaaaaaaaar make a run for the border - cutch me orficar is ya cun
i believe someone on here said they got flashed out by a traffic car as they were behind a slower moving truck up a hill in the restricted area
you seen many DAFs breaking the restrictions as you go up the hill but scania’s for fear of being humilitated by a DAF undertaking them seem to stay in lane one up the inclince

Ouch, it’s gone up a bit since the last time I was done for it then.

That was 12 months ago, wouldn’t have been so bad but the truck I was passing before the overtaking ban started speeded up as we got to the signs and they didn’t bother pulling him. Mind I still chuckle at the sight of the BAG man hanging out of the passenger window with his lollypop waving at me
