Its not construtive to just say driving standards are poor, why are they poor? Perharps the driving standard has never really been that great but wasnt noticed as much due to the less congested roads in the past?
Lack of police on major roads seems to bring the worst out of drivers.

Yeah wind it in don’t you know there’s ‘greedy?’ “drivers” on here who think they should be allowed to work as many hours as they want, bollox to anyone who gets in the way and the carnage they cause 
Or maybe there’s been research & studies done that driving a HGV tired causes a mess when it goes wrong, (other accident scenarios are available

I also use the A14 in Suffolk everyday and it is a dangerous road…but no more dangerous than many other roads in the uk.
My opinion is that the standard of car driving has dropped because there are too many distractions iPods mobiles laptops sat navs etc…
And also everyone is in such a rush, people leave it to the last minute to go shopping pick the kids up from school.

the crash scene investigators have been putting 2 and 2 together yet again and coming up with 5.
there is only 2 people know exactly what happened and 1 of those is dead so lets not speculate and let the police do the investigating.
just go back to work and do your best to make sure your not the next victim.

Or, it could be that in the past, people concentrated on their driving, rather than their mobile phones, ipads, laptops, paperwork for the office, make up etc.
I was behind a car at a set of lights last week, the driver dived out of the car, went into the boot, got his laptop and powered it up on the passenger seat
He MAY have been using it as a navigation device or something, but I doubt it
Very good point Wayne. Since the advent of Facebook and other social media I’ve lost count of the number of vehicles passing me with a driver holding his/her smartphone down on their thigh where they think nobody can see whilst typing stuff into it.
Just try driving today and counting how many times you see this, you’ll be shocked I guarantee.
I’d say smartphones etc are part of the reason driving standards etc have slipped across the board. How often to we see drivers of all vehicles on them while driving.
Also the country’s main container port should have a motorway connecting it to London and to the M1/M6
