A14 cambridge accident

Did any body else get caught on thursday evening on the A14 ? Major RTA between milton and the M11. According to local papers the accident happened at 17.35, yet i found the back of the queue at 19.45. My point is why did it take the police over 2 hours to close the A14 at the end of Newmarket bypass? By allowing the traffic to continue all they achieved was increasing the odds of a further incident. I’m not really having a moan and i’m sorry for those that lost their lives. May they rest in peace.

TWO car drivers have been killed after a lorry ran into the back of a rush-hour traffic queue on the A14.

The accident happened on the westbound carriageway at Girton, Cambridgeshire, close to the B1049 junction, on Thursday night.

A 48-year-old Cambridge man had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is being questioned.

Officers believe the cars were shunted into the back of a second lorry that was also waiting in the queue.

Neither of the motorists killed in the crash have been named by police.

Officers have yet to say whether the victims were men or women, although a spokeswoman said one was driving a Fiat Punto.

The carriageway was closed for much of the night after the crash, which police believe was witnessed by several other motorists.

Yeah got caught but was lucky enough to get on m11 down to a11 back on at newmarket. I did sit in the queue for awhile before deciding on evasive action.

i was down that was about 6 didnt see anything and no traffic i got straight on m11 no trouble but my mate an hour behind me said there was loads

We can do alot of damage with these trucks can’t we?

Thoughts with the dead and their families. Horrible situation.

i shouldnt imagine the lorry didnt even notice a fiat punto. :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
