Not sure how many are aware but heard mention of a Sainsbury’s driver being killed coming off the A10 down into Hoddesdon the night before last. The lorry hit an overbridge parapit and caught fire. Apparently there were other parties involved who have since been arrested first impressions are the lorry driver is not to blame possibly some sort of road rage incident.
Just out doing his job and that happens!

Car drivers I bet…RIP drive
The Sainsburys driver was a 37 year-old Hungarian.
Can’t find anything about car drivers being arrested though…
The bridge has been closed for engineering checks, since it’s believed to have been struck hard on the pillar.
Sad news and a long way from home.
RIP Drive.

The lorry on fire
I wonder if your family would appreciate footage of you burning to death in your cab?

Dont suppose there was any malice of forethought its just the nature of the instant media world in which we live.

I know there wasn’t much you could do by that stage but why do people put so much effort into whipping out their phone and uploading stuff like that, when they could’ve at least tried to help?
I’ve seen several vehicle fires “youtubed” and not once have I heard the person filming ask “is there anyone in there?” First thing I do if I come across a vehicle fire, admittedly not come across many.

That is disgusting. Regardless of the fact you didn’t film it why on earth would you put it on a public forum knowing someone was burning to death in the footage?

Here we go again, if you don’t like it then don’t be on a lorry driver’s forum. And nobody was filmed “burning to death”. Get a grip.

There’s a physchological hypothesis that says the more people are present at an accident, the less likely any member of the crowd is to act.
I always remember seeing a video. A young woman on a moped with her mother on the back. Somewhere in the East/Far East. They got knocked off and the mom got decapitated by a truck. Poor girl just left holding the head.
And not one person in this crowd moved. You could see several others just filming it.
And again at the murder of Lee Rigby.
It’s terrible, but true.
The old F1 fatal crashes on youtube are similar. The Roger Williamson one, nobody save one driver attempted a rescue, no other drivers stopped. Must’ve shook a few as several stopped 3 years later when Niki Lauda was badly burnt.

David Purley did didn’t he? Didn’t he get some gallantry medal for it?
As I recall he ruptured the blood vessels in his arms trying to right the car on his lonesome

Yes he got the GM, some drivers thought he was waving to warn them of the crash thinking it was his car on fire.

■■? Poor Lee Rigby was mortally wounded from the moment he was stoved against the post, completely out of the blue.
I would consider Ms Ingrid’s actions as warranting a George Medal in her own right, regardless of the fact there was unfortunately nothing she could do to save Lee Rigby from his already-sustained mortal abdominal and lower back injuries - dying unconscious from this impact damage, with the subsequent blade weapon attacks merely accerlerating the death of an already dying man.
Being merely a scout first-aider rather than an actual Doctor - Ms Ingrid’s evidence on the “medical” front wasn’t taken very seriously by the authorities at the time.
I would suggest that the rest of the world - rather than her own actions - has attempted to de-value her own personal bravery and actions here down to the same level as the other (female) bystander who filmed the exchanges between Ms Ingrid and the culprits on her phone.
Although the official post-mortem results put the “cause of death” down to the blade injuries (‘initial impact’ could actually not be ruled out) - the irony here is that this serving soldier wearing the “help the heroes” T shirt was very left dying from a similar injury that Horatio Nelson - perhaps our most famous “Hero” - in that the small of his back had been snapped, thanks to a different kind of ‘foreign assailant who’d gone out of their way’ to “Get him”… Like an assassin - these jihadists didn’t have the bottle to attack one of our finest from the front - they had to run him over from behind. Cowards!
RIP Lee Rigby.
I reckon the Judge did well to make sure the key gets thrown away here… It would have been scandalous if these murderers had been dished out with 25 year standard terms, with them out in 15 for “good behaviour”…
