Well Mushroomman, unless it’s Santhia I really cant think, the only reason I said Santhia is because you can just see the big white mountain in the background, the only other one I know is in Jasbrenny just outside Budapest a factory we went to many times, there was one opposite the factory next to a bar-restaurant.

Was the Jaszbereny the fridges/freezers for Castleford? Firm I worked for mid 90s used to do that job along with Mamas & Papas - it often made me think that the top brass at DLS in the early 90s can’t have been too switched on, as those 2 jobs were crying out for mega trailers or wagon and drags, but the man at M&P told me one day that A-One weren’t interested in gearing up so lost the work?
Hullo,
I’ll bet Andy Parks nicked it for Murfitts.

Archi, “Jaszbereny may be spelt wrong” but it was in Hungary, but they did make fridges and freezers, and vac-um flasks, we took out chemicals from ICI and sometimes reloaded with fridges for Frigidaire UK, I never delivered them to Castleford though.:-Jack
Hi Jack ( oh shucks
, I shouldn’t of put that as M.I.5 will most likely be monitoring this site now
).
What you mean M.I.5, we’ve got M.I.6 now, you’ve been in OZY too long mate, your behind the times.Yes you were correct as it was the pool in Santhia on a Sunday morning
so well done. As you mentioned chemicals from I.C.I. does anybody remember delivering them to a place near Zagreb called Jesterbarsko ?.
Old Hoborn:
We loaded some fridges in Czeckloslavakia and delivered them to Stoke on Trent but it was later found out
the electric motors inside the fridges were the wrong voltage and had to send a fitter there to change all of
them, by the way what will be the cost per head at the reunion, my financial situation may require me to arrange
a bank loan or remortgage desperation as set in, still I will be there bycycle and all
You keep trying to let us know your skint, “what a load of crap”, just dont forget to bring your wallet, it’s £2-50 to us, and £5-00 to you, just for your cheek.
sorry boys not done a runner no puter will be back on line very soon see you all soon

Hi All,any one know what was the farest trip A ONE did,or longest due to hold ups ects
Hi Keith2, maybe someone can fill in the details that my memory can`t. I remember one of the lads telling of a trip he did with his wife. I believe he had a machine, out of Elliots of Halifax, to deliver to Sardinia which because of the weight or size ment he had to use a special ferry. He travelled down to Italy were he waited for a week for the ferry to turn up. After delivering he then had to wait for two weeks for it calling back. He said him and his wife had a brilliant, paid, three weeks on the beaches.

I remember Norman Marriot going to Sardinia, he went via Genova, but dont know anything about taking his wife with him, or him having a holiday paid for by A One because of the ferries, maybe it was someone else. :-Jack

Still getting drivers giving me contact’s to get in touch for the reunion, If you read this Stuart, please add, Brian Rig, Dennis Burk, Alec Kinnon, and possibly if I can contact Dave Thomas he will be another one, I found out today that Dave Thomas had a serious accident while working for “Collett’s Halifax”, apparently he took the straps off a load of tubes and they came down on him, trapping him quite badly, although he dont work there now My son-in-law who works there is going to try to get me his number. :-Jack
I dont want to sound morbid, but has anyone heard anything from Dennis Glover recently, I though he was a regular visitor on this thread, but haven’t heard of him for a long time, and usualy when we dont hear from anyone for a long time, we get morbid thoughts, after all he was the one who got me interested on the thread in the first place, I know he was on the chicken run, do you think he’s turned into a pheasant plucker!.:-Jack
dennis is fine spoke to him last week and is comming to the reunion whith his little black book and incriminating photos …

Oh thank god for that!, so he’s not turned into a Pheasant Plucker then, but I cant wait to see what the incriminating photo’s are all about.
.
I dont know about you Stuart, but I recon the ones who are still working for a living, should pay double for the buffe, to help substitute the poor pensioners who have had to dig deep into there state pensions to attend the reunion, after all we were workmates weren’t we, I doubt Mr Mullin’s would be against the idea, after all the poor man has just come back from a holiday in Florida, and he’ll be skint now.

That’d be out of a firm called Afos at Hull? Did any of you ever do the bakery machinery out of Tweedy’s of Burnley, first ones a-one did some of for us was to Ravenna way around 1988/9? Mostly stripout loads and some had to run with tilt cover off, but Brown’s of Otley did the big oven IIRC? Cheers

Not to worry, the landlady has provided extra space in the car park for the Zimmer frames with a security guard to keep an eye on them, but she said that all ■■■■■■ has to be declared over the bar on entry, but I dont have to worry I’m only a young un, I’m only 70 and still dont need it.
Cant say that for the rest of them though.
