Hi Archie. there is a bit of a misunderstanding here as i never served with 4/7 dragoon guard, it was my younger brother who served with them. what i used to do was call in to see him and his family on my way in and out of Germany. But if we had a few drinks in the hotel that night i may inadvertantly given you the wrong idea, for that i apologise. Last week was a great night it’s a pity you could’nt make it. This whole website is about the past FFS, I didn’t jump on my high horse saying A One drivers were a bunch of hooligans, I just recalled an item from the past, as I’ve said in every [zb]ing post on here, the ones I met were a decent bunch. Here’s a thought, if I had a problem with A One drivers why did I spend Friday night at Arluno in their company

I recalled the story the way I did because, as I’ve said, I was there the morning of the day in question, when I left there were A One drivers, a couple of other Brits and a few Belgians parked in the place, the Belgians were flogging the guvnor a load of meat out of their trailers, whilst the guvnor was getting it he noticed the A One boys having a camion cook up, this got up his nose, later that day there was a punch up at a wedding reception. The next time I visited, the guvnor told me to vi cagare, I asked him why (I spoke pretty decent Italian) he told me that the A One drivers had started a punch up and all brits were banned, so I heard the story from the horse’s mouth

You lot are the ones making a big deal out of it, apart from JJ72 who said he heard the same story, nobody else mentioned it until Dennis went off alarming, then I replied and now you’re all saying you were the next best thing to a Sunday School Choir, well that’s bollox, half the posts on here are about ■■■■ ups you lot had, there’s more than one reference to one of you dropping an Austrian over being called a Limey, now correct me if I’m wrong, but that was funny according to some of you, what’s the difference between the two incidents also i never said that the A One lads went steaming in and kicked off, I just said there was a punch and they were involved, after all it could’ve been the eyeties that started it, it more than likely was, a wedding suggest young people, young people have a habit of getting a few Peronni’s down there neck and getting lippy

Looking back on my previouse insertion I have unwittingly been drawn in to a what can be called a
sub intelligent exchange of statments. By my past experience of which I make no exscuse, I should have stepped back
and taken deep breath and thought seriuosly of any on going remarks which may inflame the situation, and down grade the
integrity of the forum and move it away from the its roots which was basicaly to reunite the past employees, who have lost touch
with there friends, who I personaly think was employed by one of the best transport firms in the north of England. and believe me
by my personal experience’s after I was dismissed and I live with to this day, stregnthen’s my overall view and I am sure
many will agree with the above statment. the sad demise of A ONE TRANSPORT was in its self was a travesty, but many memories
survive which I hope will be entered and be discussed and on this forum.I apologize for my previous negative remarks.
I could go on forever of past experience’s together with enjoyment of working for A One Transport and all of its office staff, mechanic’s
drivers, then I am probably like so many others who have also,

I think it’s safe to say from Denis’ off-topic and curt replies that he doesn’t appreciate you posting pics of him in his wife’s underclangers.

Also, this thread has now turned into a ‘closed shop’ since the reunification of so many old A One drivers. It seems that if you’re not one of them you are not welcome here.

You should take a lesson from your mate Mr Broughton, he realised that I wasn’t attacking anybody when I brought up the incident in the first place, but not you, oh no, you almost confirm that it was A One that were involved buy your over-reaction to my comment, I may have taken the ■■■■ out of Dennis and his undies, but I have not resorted to abusing anybody, I’ve gone so far as to say that the A One lads were a decent bunch.

The site rules are that you attack the post, not the poster, the way some of you are getting on my case would result in a bout of fisticuffs if we were in a glass fronted resturaunt just to the north of Arluno, although this time I can promise it would not be an A One driver who started it, so keep on with your name calling, I promise you this, if you continue to get up my nose I will spend the next couple of days looking through the local newspaper archives and digging up every bit of dirt I can find on A One to totally discredit all of you, the resulting slanging match will get this thread locked, I’ll do the same to every future thread or post related to A One, or you could just STFU and post something along the lines of ‘newmercman, you’ve got it wrong, it was nothing to do with us’ and then the rest of the A One boys can continue to enjoy this thread, we could even ask the mods to remove all the posts relating to it, except maybe my first one.

Even in his last post he is making threats to cause more aggro,all this from some one who does not even give you his name. To the man himself my name is on the top of this post for all to see,i would not hide behind a username. So in order to realy give you a lift this will be my last message on this site/thread. Congratulations. To all the aone drivers of which i am one and spent almost thirty years at this company,i will just say it was realy nice to see and hear from you all again. Also most of you have my contact numbers,but if you haven’t then you can contact Stuart Broughton. Stuart knows where i am. The reason i have for making this decision is simple,i cannot do with the aggro from either side. As you pointed out he hides behind some sort of suedeonom, and as his Avatar says, “In the Wrong place at the Wrong time”. So at least he has got one thing right. Surely he realises that this is a forum used by the ex staff of Aone. OK he asked a question, he has had reactions to the question which he does’nt like, so he resorts to threats. I think he should go to the forum of the company he was with, or start a forum about his own life and experiences ( ? ) Call it a day, crawl off quietly and leave Aone alone. Even if you all are from the Leeds / Bradford / Halifax Area. Now if you were from Pickering… That would put you all in a different class.

The clown making remarks and upsetting the forum, reminds me of a young guy I gave a lift on my way to Dover many years ago, he had never worked for the company but knew more about them than I did, he also knew plenty about driving although he didn’t have a licence, but he did travel about a bit, listening to drivers tales and making up his own story as he went on, I threw him out long before Dover for the same reason I’m not replying to this clown, so I advise you all to do the same, I personally have nothing to hide at all from all my years on the road, and I dont think any of you have either, and like Alan I dont hide behind another name and I know you all know me personally, but sadly there is always someone who will always get in the way of others pleasure, usualy it’s councilors, politicians, the PC brigade, or even Elf n Safety, but in this case it’s just another clown who hasn’t the guts to name himself.

And for the record, I did not slag A One drivers off anywhere, even in my original post where I mentioned the punch up in Arluno, I put that I had a good weekend with one of them, then Dennis came on with a very aggressive response, asking where I got the information.

So I told him that I got my information from the owner of the resturaunt concerned, some more of you then joined in with a total denial that any A One driver ever did anything wrong, anywhere, I found this somewhat hypocritical seeing as how I read numerous posts about someone getting knocked out for calling one of you a Limey.

I then went on to say that even if it was A One drivers involved in the punch, who knew who started it? Just because they were (possibly) involved, it doesn’t mean they started it.

My remarks about Dennis and his knickers were tongue in cheek, I mean, come on, the bloke was standing at a fuel pump in his (or her) undies, it’s called banter people, surely you’re not that far up your own arses that you can’t take a bit of that? The same goes for the muslims and references to denial of the Holocaust, it was tongue in cheek.

So for this I get called an idiot, a nutter and now a clown, amongst other things, then an association is made to a youngster without a licence, well you couldn’t be farther from the truth, for one I was in Italy in a lorry over twenty years ago when the punch up happened, so i’m no kid and I’ve made thousands of posts on here without getting into arguments with people, I doubt everybody has agreed with everything I’ve said, but you mob are the first to start getting personal. I’m not going to take that without response
