A1 Scotland - Speeding

Haha well let’s just hope it was not me that got flashed then!!! [emoji106]

I got 3 points & £60 about 6 years ago going Northbound at Cockburnpath. I was easing down after the dual carriageway but evidently not quickly enough, I was doing 45.

I mentioned in a thread last week that when travelling up from England, as you cross the border at Gretna, the overheads there tell you,“New speed limits in England do not apply in Scotland”. Don’t know if this message is made clear at any other border crossings?

Yes there is a message on a1 border too

The cynic in me figures that the lack of advertising is due to the Govt not wanting to draw attention to the possibly unpopular move of actually raising speed limits, whereas the Scots are advertising it not so much for the benefit of lorry drivers, but more to draw the attention of car drivers as to what “them bloody Tories” have gone and done!

That first gatso past Berwick upon tweed will be doing a roaring trade! A guy a know has been done twice there in a lorry and both times he has put it down to the fact you go from dual to s/c and your head is up your arse thinking about something (family, money issues whatever) and that’s it 3 points and £100 skelped on you!

Who put the limit up to 50 on the A9? They must be under pressure to follow suit now

I believe that was for a trial period to see if it improved traffic flow. Don’t know how long it was for, if it’s still on trial, or if it proved anything!

Oh dear, the I didn’t know excuse won’t wash I’m afraid…remeber when we have done something wrong we are professionals allegedly, any other time we are just scum.

Let me correct you on that one. If you do something wrong that is not being professional and hence the fact there are not so many professionals on the roads these days. :unamused:
