A workmate spends £500 per month on fags

I was on 60 Senior Service a day in 1974 and decided that spending a tenner week was crazy.
The day I decided to stop I got a brand new M reg Leyland Marathon, the first motor I ever had with a ■■■ lighter.
I opened a second bank account and had a direct debit for a tenner a week paid into it and as ■■■■ went up I increased the D/D.
In two years I had enough cash to sell my 2 litre Ford Crap E and buy Jack Walker’s (Blackburn Rovers boss) 18 month old BMW 520.
I tell my wife who is on 120 a week that if she had stopped when I did we would be out tonight in the Bentley.
Her answer is “stop the booze and employ a pilot for the private jet we would have”

I tell her I haven’t flown since 1960 when we were doing drops from the old Beverly’ aircraft so I will keep to the booze, thank you.

I forgot to mention the ket, purple pills and rent boys…

So you do spend money on ■■■■

I’m surprised though, with your movie star good looks and charm I thought you’d be beating them off with a stick

Well to be fair I was lying about the rent boys. I’ve not had to pay for it…yet.

I’ve smoked on and off since 16 mostly the wacky backy. I’m 35 now. In the past year, I was up to about 20/30 cigs a day but managed to stop there about a month ago at the same time I had a cold for a week which is a good time to choose to stop as you don’t feel like them anyway and I felt like ■■■■■ off them, the first time in my life i’ve really wanted to stop.

Was in A & E today as my dad fell off his bike & broke his hip and heard a 72 year old smoker coughing, was like Satan’s bugle, sent a shiver down my spine. Still smoke the odd reefer but I think i’ll be off the ciggies for good now as they really are the work of the devil, end of. Pure habit, you don’t even enjoy half the ones you smoke & the cost, jaysus ridiculous.

How the hell are they still alive if they smoke that much :s

I’ve got 2 cars, roughly 60 quid a month on them unless there’s a trackdays on then add another 100+ to that…the joys of owning a V8

See i told ya you have always been a tight hunt… :grimacing: but saying that you are a funny fella what wears em girlie skirts

yea but i get 30 to the gallon out of my v8, it sounds better and is more fun…

What’s with the skid lid you big ■■■■

I get my Charger at the same kind of angle as that at every bend, today has been heaven sent, it rained in the early hours, then froze and now it’s snowing, perfect arseing around on the lock stops weather :sunglasses:

Been to the quacks today and i’m starting on chapix tomorrow.

It only costs me £25 a week smoking rollies, and its not the money thats a problem its feeling like an old man when i wake up in the morning.

Its also when women tell you your breath and clothes smell like an ashtray and don’t want to get near you know its time to stop lol

Do you mean Champnix? If so be careful, it gives you insomnia, makes you ■■■■ (even more) and can make you depressed, the US DOT have banned it for truck drivers, so it must be a bit dubious, I went on it a few years back and still smoke now :open_mouth:

Wheel Nut:
Beer at £3.10 a pint

Geesh and Im complaining that the local WMC has just put the the virgin water up to £2.70 a pint, which is why I’m in another hostilery with a pint of lager at £1.73

unfortunatly i got no choice in wearing it, pain in the ■■■ tbh especially in this. was funny though when i drove in because mines is the least drift looking car ever…somebody then commented cause they saw me coming off track lol. said it was a sunday drivers car lol.

we never used to have to wear them at Crail (my local skid place - that photo was at teeside) but then somebody on one of the thrash days (drag strip) didnt have his seatbelt on and crashed, got flung out his car and died so we have to wear them now.

im not gonna say what the drive down was like… or the tyne tunnel :D:D:D:D

also i need this sort of lock…70 degrees of lock, and a 4.4 litre v8 stuffed in it

Im on the patches backed up by a inhaltor the insomnia is murder the ■■■■■■■ only affects the mrs lol i also find the patches give you the wierdest most vivid dreams ever but not scary and i remember every single bit of the dreams

As for coughing like a old knackered 240 gardner. That stopped after the first week. Im in week 6 almost and not felt healthier for a long long time.

all these nicotine replacement things are really good but do require a certain amount of willpower

Ifind sucking on some frozen grapes or chilled grapes when im on the road really helps with the cravings

most doctors recommend joining a stop smoking group which is ok if your at home. But i explained im away from home with work and she gave me 4 weeks supply from the chemist (free if your in scotland)

if your spending £100 per week on ciggies thats about £75 to the chancellor i think he gets enough of my hard earned cash paye ,fuel duty, vat.ect, ect ect

So go on give it a go i didnt think i would last 6 days never mind 6 weeks

Now that is some serious lock stop action, I suppose the weight of a big V8 up front makes the back end a bit looser with the extra grunt being a bonus too

ETA: This obviously relates to Gogzy’s last post and has SFA to do with ■■■■, except the ones that wear crash helmets and kilts

That amount isn’t hard to spend on cigs a month, (Duty Paid) I used to polish off at least 1 sleeve (200) some weeks especially if spending time in boozer’s They when i smoked it cost me over £50.00 x 4 =£200 a month maybe more, I can remember a Sleeve on Benny’s being £11.00 on the Poole - cherbourg ferry soon after i started doing euro work and the duty free was still in place,
Some survey reported that those who owned a car liked a drink and smoked would end up paying some 60% of their gross wages in taxes think of all that wonga they are reaping in,and they are saying they are skint, what a load of bull manure ( and that is with all the imported cigs & booze accounted for)

heh heh heh the V8 :sunglasses: bet you smoke some tyres though :grimacing:

I drink & smoke, but a pack of Malboro cost me $4 so not breaking the bank, but still a few grand a year, the beer is not a vice though, it’s nutrition

My main vice (that I’ll admit to on a public forum) is Starbucks, although it’s worth every penny, I hate to think how much I spend in there a year

Here in the Canary islands 200 Benson (London blue) 9 euros 50 c :grimacing: :grimacing:

Kinell’ a 2 ounce pouch is a fiver in Belgium, I struggle to go through a pouch in a week.

Good for you mate, keep it up. I gave up just over 4 years ago after about 20 a day for 27 years. I tried patches and all the other stuff but in the end i gave up and went cold turkey. I have never held a ■■■ between my fingers ever again, letalone smoked one. Even when i drink now, its like i never smoked. If i could offer anyone advise, the one thing i would say is this–
You gota really want it, i mean really want it. If your going into it half arsed, forget it becuase you’l never last the course!

I’M in the office at the moment covering the T.M. The doctor did say that if i was on the road she would’nt give them to me. If i go back on the road before the course is finished i need to stop them.
She did say that about the side affects and stop them straight away if i started experiencing them.

i was on that for a bit, it messes with your head, especially getting depresion for no reason, felt 100% better after i stopped taking them. got back on the ■■■■ again, started smoking at 12yrs old, im now 44, was smoking 25 a day, 45 if i went to the pub. ive been given up since october with nicotine patches, with no side effects.

Quit for 2 years, using Champix. Never felt so rough and caught every germ, bug and virus that came within 50 miles of me. I looked rough as a bears ■■■■ as well, both me and her did. Never felt and looked better now after sparking up again. I started about the same age as you Kindle and with a few more miles on my clock  I figure that was to big a change for my body. :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Happy as a sandboy again now so pass the Marlboro’s
