A warning about Montracon Reefer trailers

Met up with the night driver this morning and got told the tale of woe as to why he was still about at 4am.

One very scary reason was that on the new Montracon Reefer trailers we have, the bolts that hold the body onto the chassis had to be tightened up and THEY WERE ALL LOOSE. Apparently it’s a common problem with them. :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Would’ve been nice if they’d bothered telling the drivers.

So, any company men or O/D’s in particular out there who are pulling new Montracon reefers (less than 12 months old) make sure the body retaining bolts are tight. It’s certainly something else I’m going to add to the daily walk round.

I was thinking of getting some…

We’ve got quite a few in our yard from Transamerica on long term hire. :open_mouth:

THey may have resolved it but the trailers we have are no more than 2 months old at best.

Fortunately, it’s a well maintained fleet.

Should have been picked up at PDI and every inspection since new.

Looks like someone has been careless, loose bolts are common on new equipment and usually looked out for.
