A truly awful day at work

been there mate, my only advise is, how strong a person are you? like my old boss told me its not your fault and better her than you, heres the keys to the truck and crack on, harsh but it worked, straight back out in the truck, yes your twitch for a long time but your out driving, in time it goes to the back of your mind, never goes away but just need to learn how to block it out

Been in the same situation as Burnley-si…And have to agree with his comment…Been 2yrs since it happened to me…The police were great…And the officer told me…Not to leave it to long before getting back behind the wheel…I had a week off…And went back…It’s something that will always be there…But as said don’t dwell on it.Especially as in this job you spend alot of time alone. So its easy to have it playing on your mind…All the best for the future mate…

Saw the thread title and thought it was just another 'can’t back on a bay, I flashed another truck in and they didn’t thank me ’ jobby.

How wrong I was, I hope I never have to go similar and most of the replies have been very eye opening.

Hopefully you will be able to put this tragedy behind you, time will heal many things but it’s not as good as knowing your not alone.
Help will always be given to those who ask for it.

following on from my post,

mine happened in 1996 she would have been 36yrs old this year, not often a month goes by without thinking about her, and i always say hello, when i go past where i had the crash 1/2 mile A1M s/bound just before m18

i thought i would have got a lift home, but my boss being my boss, fetched me a unit out they hooked it up to my trailer and said carry on your shift or you can take it back to the yard, so some 7 hrs after the crash i was back in the cab driving, i took it back to the yard and had 2 days off and then back at it monday

Update on this incident. Police have informed me that the woman involved in a similar incident 6 hours earlier was the same one. Doesn’t change things much, apart from letting me think that she was serious about taking her own life. Maybe it will speed up the inquest and let me get my unit released sometime sooner.Am currently in a rental unit, nice motor, but all my personal gear is locked in my unit at Newport Pagnell services.
Just wondering, if a car is involved in a fatality, do the police impound the car till the inquest result is given? If I had been an OD with only one truck how could I afford to rent a replacement unit?

My dad witnessed a young lady who was killed. She was on her bike and her pedal clipped the kerb resulted in her going under a tipper truck. In court my dad testified that he did not believe the lorry driver was to blame, despite numerous phone calls from the lady’s husbands solicitor trying to get him to change his testimony. My dad was traumatised by the incident it really affected him. Not long after he developed cancer and died and I personally think this awful experience brought it on.

My thoughts go out to you and what you’re going through.

And you unit is still impounded :open_mouth:  why have the company not had this released yet

I know my mats was impounded for a couple weeks partly due to VOSA due to trailer all the light at back were off although it took about 10 weeks for it to come back eventually his boss sent a recovery wagon to bring it back

So shouldn’t take that long
