J9 Gardner Marine Engine, this 8 cylinder version was the largest engine size they made. There is a strong rumour that some were fitted into Guy Big Js. :open_mouth:

I did try to fit this CAT engine into one of our Big J’s but it stuck out too far and there was no room for the 5th Wheel ( Not Dave  ) So I had to refit the 240LXB and sell the CAT to Punchy Dan’l for his Foden dragster      Cheers Dennis.

Let’s have a look at J

JRT Transport of Liverpool, or Jarvis Robinson Transport, seen here loading imported Canadian bread making flour in the years of rationing post WW2.

What a great picture. The Leyland Beaver BKA 762 has reversed up to the rear of the loaded trailer,
to make it easier for the man to spread the sheet, and then climb back down.
The Leyland Beaver AKB 982 at the rear appears to be pulling the other trailer out of the building
on its front shunt bar. Regards, Ray Smyth.

Continuing with the letter “J”, These pictures have been seen before on several Trucknet threads.
The Jarvis Robinson Leyland Beavers from the late 1930s were a regular sight in the Liverpool
area until the mid 1960s, I started as a HGV driver with Jarvis Robinson aged 21 in the summer of 1965

Regards, Ray Smyth.
