A strange trainer day

Should be quite happy today but mixed emotions. This morning young Glen came back for his retest. He was so concerned about getting this licence that last week he booked a test with another trainer in Kent from his own money despite the fact that his employer was paying us and despite the fact he had a test booked for today anyway. Unfortunately he did not even get off the reverse on Thursday because the vehicle broke down.

He passed at 10.15 then we started his Mod 4 training along with others for a 2pm CPC test. During that 2 hour session his girlfriend called to say her Grandad had died. He said he could not continue and had to leave.

Whether right or wrong I persuaded almost forced him to continue and he just scraped through. Did he have a good day? Doubt it. Did I? It dont feel like it.

This board is about the new guys but trust me days like today make me wonder if the trainers priorities are fully there. I know my main concern was him passing that CPC. He did, but I wish I had let him go home.

Had a few beers after and am using the board to get the guilt off me.

Personally i believe your advice was correct, i know it would have been for me anyway …

If he wanted to go that bad he would of, unless you zip tied him to the lorry

Hi John
You Had a job to do and you did it  For the sake of a couple of Hours is not going to bring back his Girlfreinds Grandad or make him feel any better or worse what will have made him feel a bit better is the PASS
