Whilst we are very grateful to all who support the Help for Heroes charity by way of offering a link to their website, due to frequent Google Algorithm updates linking in this manner is no longer in line with best practice principles, i.e. lots of links from one site linking to another.
According to our Webmasters tools as of 10th July there were 55,191 from trucknetuk.com and on behalf of Help for Heroes we would recommend that you remove all but one link from a significant page of your website. We thank you for your continued support of Help for Heroes and would be grateful to receive an acknowledgement of your actions that we can relay back to Help for Heroes.
On looking at this site most of these links are in signatures from members- In line with Help for Heroes request we ask you remove those links, We will be adding a free advertising button to the site to the Help for Heroes website -
Seems pretty ungrateful to me. And in my experience of SEO and getting to number one in Google for the term ‘lorry driver’ not altogther correct. Trying to dictate to sites and their members how they should link to them is pretty bad if you ask me. Ignore them.

Its a REQUEST from Help for Heroes web team - no-one is being forced to do anything, but the charity would like people here to consider removing the links.
Luke you are partly right, links do help with SEO for Google rankings, the problem is too many links from one site and Google thinks that it may be a link farm and that affects the way Google treats the site.
As i understand it, too many links can be treated as spam and the website drops down the listings. Could be wrong though. Don’t support H4H anyway, prefer to give to RBL, SSAFA, and Combat Stress.

I think you are wise…H4H does little or nothing directly for ex-servicemen/women, but it does give grants to other service charities. You can always cut out the middleman and give direct to a charity which actually works ‘in the field’ to bring help to those who need it.
looks like a good one. Besides the practical help that these dogs can bring, they are also of great psychological benefit…people with mental or physical difficulties can become very isolated and dogs are great for breaking down barriers of isolation and depression.
I know of too many service bods who qualify under the H4H rules for help, but because they have been medically discharged H4H say “sorry, you don’t qualify”, even though they do. Round here on Rememberance weekend H4H collectors have been out collecting and telling members of the public that all Service Charities are now under one roof called H4H…Blatant lie
They seem like a bunch of ungrateful ZB’s, saying “We dont want ‘political’ donations”, “We dont want donations from this group of people” and now "We dont want your free advertisement
Well ZB THEM… much better charities to support out there

That is true, but they should be taking up the issue with google, not you. Have to agree with Luke above - dictating to sites how they should link to them - especially being a charity - is very very poor practice. Personally I’d have told them to go ■■■■ themselves and removed ALL links to them from the site and banned any mention of them in the future, but of course because they’re a charity and allegedly do good things then we must keep quiet and do as they say, right?

H4H have got a bad name and a lot of people support their cause but not the charity so they go to other similiar charities. i am one of them! i have worn my SSAFA wristband for 2 years now but i picked up a ABF one at the armed forces day this year and chose to replace my H4H wristband with the ABF one
I binned my H4H one many years ago, replaced it with an RBL one. Support SSAFA, RBL, Combat Stress, and all other service charities. Also wear my vets badge too
Before you do can i suggest you look into them fully. Years ago i was gonna do a charity bike ride for them. They were going to charge me £11 per H4H teeshirt, i also had to pay for any banners i wanted to use and collection tins etc.
I am not going to list what info i have on them, but will happily respond to any pms.
I was a little supprised when a group of us raised a nice sum after putting a band on in our club I found it hard to get someone to take the money strange I thought but I did get letter of thanks after a while
