Robinhood1984, I stated that all companys before they came into the EU where checked, this also goes for those that started up afterwards, If they do not have the paper work then they are illegal and not a reconised company just like when some one here inthe UK is working without a ““O”” LICENCE which does still happen so this answers that part of your
question, AS regards checks the police will depending onwhy they are stopping you ask for various documents,if itis just a normal vehrkers-kontrol
traffic -check ,they willproberly ask just for the logbook,driveing licence,passport,and the tachograph,
IF it is what is know as LKW-CONTOL --LORRY CONTROL these are well planned and may be at any time of the day and night, here they will have
the following traffic-police to check all doc.s and also the complete vehicle
to check the technical condition, they may also have persons from the social services to check that the driver is legally employed inthe case of German vehicles,ordnungs amt --Health & Safety , whose job it is to check that
the driver is working tothe required standards laid down for drivers,
B.A: G THEY will be helping the police to check the driver and their paper work completely and any found to be not legal will have action taken against them, These controls do happen and do catch a lot of the bent
transport companys,but yes some may slip through,

about the way the EU works ifany it does happen people in any country buy a lorry they do not need a ““O”” Licence for this and if they then go outon the road working with the lorry ,THEY are illegal and this can be the case of why some are getting stopped ans held,
ABOUT THE CHECKS at factorys,yes these checks are normaly only for certain documents,like the log book, adr/haz permit and licence for driver and lorry concerned, passport, as yet i have never seen that a non-german
transporter haveing to produce his ““O”” LICENCE or EU permit,
it maybe that when useing a carnat that this will be handed over,but that is it
any one from the new EU partners who is not equipped with the right documents is illegal and this normaly acted on .when apprehended,just like we do here in the UK when a person is caught,
