A question about 7.5 tonne trucks

Something else I know very little about, so can someone tell me if 7.5 tonne vehicles have air brakes or hydraulic brakes?

I think they all have to have air brakes now, certainly all of the ones I have driven have had air brakes.

the ones I’ve seen are mostly Air/Hydraulic systems

Nearly all have air brakes. The only one I drove with hydraulic brakes was a mistibishi canter

Back in the day (late 70’s/early 80’s) they were nearly all air over hydraulic, I think the first ones with full air brakes were the Mercedes 814. Some still had ratchet handbrakes back then though, a wise man was never without a couple of decent chocks!

oh how we all laughed as we bounced back off the windscreen of the merc 814 with its full air brakes on our first day out in it lol.

european 7.5 tonners will be air,

it’s only the japcrap ones that uses hydraulic with a cable handbrake.

i detest jap trucks with a passion, horrible, cramped, cheap and nasty excuses for a vehicle.

I sometimes drive an Iveco with air brakes and a car style (cable) handbrake.
