That’s right, I use it a lot myself. As Vic says it leaves sentences to almost be finished by the reader.
deckboypeggy:
yes ARCHIE it is called"ellipsis" you are correct in your comment.i only knew because i all ways wondered why myself and others use it,my reason was not the correct one, it just split the writing up, now i know i was nearly right.for once.
Aha, ellipsis, yes that’s the word I was searching for. I was taught these things some 60 years ago, but although I knew their purpose, I completely forgot what the term was. Thank you Vic.
I was thinking, did Paul add an ellipsis at the end of Not all Sunshine and Sand… I hope so as I should love to read another of his stories. I can’t check because the book is in Yorkshire and I am in Brasil.
Well Archie, good news… Yes He Did…
Jeff…

Hullo Vic,
Yes you are quite correct, travelling is what I do best, I have always had itchy feet and always on the move. At the moment I am living in Brasil in São Paulo, a large City with almost twenty million people. Not really the best of places to be, although we do live in quite a nice area, but, the really good thing is it is a nice warm 30c here today, just a pleasant breeze blowing. We are fortunate here that we don’t get many Mosquito’s at all, although I have encountered a few when we have visited various other parts of the country. I have never been up to see Recife yet, although We were up in São Luiz last year for a week and that’s in the same region. I had not been to Brasil until 2009 even though I was at Sea for nearly twenty years I never got to anywhere in South America. I have indeed been following your posts and find them very interesting, as others have said before me they have the makings of an interesting book. I look forward to reading more of them in the future. So keep them coming please.
Just finished your book Paul - Brilliant. I hope you put pen to paper again. Wishing you well and apologies for Father’s antics (JIM.M) He should have recognised his problem and not risked other peoples reputations or indeed lives. Water under the bridge now. Jim. (jmc jnr Jim M’s eldest)
Hello Jim,
How very kind of you, bit of a bolt out of the blue. It was a long time ago now and an interesting experience!! Spoke to your brother before I had it published, didn’t want to offend anyone, he gave me some good background info on your dad. Forgetting about that trip, he sounded an unusual guy and had an interesting life. Aye still writing, just finished a book about my first holiday with three other mate in '67. We spent a month touring Europe in a battered old tent and a van.
Once again thanks For your approbation
Best regards
Paul
