A lucky escape!

Many, many years ago,as a VERY inexperienced driver…1st day working out of Palletline in Brum in an 18 tonner…only one AZ to my name, and no satnav or smartphone,I had a delivery to a place in the middle of nowhere, just south of Burton on Trent.
The office staff thought it would be fun to give me 16 drops (on my first day remember !),I was running hours late, stressed out to the limit, and my common sense had long since departed :unamused:
I had decided to ignore warning signs about an approaching weight/width limit, putting it down to nimbyism.
Luckily,a car driver flagged me down, and managed to convince me that I was heading for disaster, and drew me a map of an alternative route, which I followed, and all ended well :sunglasses:
Yesterday,I drove the same route in my car heading towards a garden centre in the same area, and I discovered just how much grief this bloke had saved me from :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
Aint stopped shaking since

haha i know that bridge well! I used to have a collection up that way from some bathroom supplying company.

I was only in a 3.5t sprinter and if loaded I had to fold the mirrors in because they would hit the railings both sides! unloaded they would sit just above them

Is that the bridge near Walton on Trent? Last time I went over it, in a car, there wasn’t that yellow line to follow…

Pete.

Looks like Station Lane Walton On Trent

Correct ! scraped the bugs off my mirrors yesterday :open_mouth:
