A insecure load worth a lot of money

hello this link will take you to a report about alorry which was controlled

by the police in germany who had loaded in France and was enroute

to Hanover where the load was to be dropped,

the LORRY spotted and seen to have a insecure load so the police

stopped and checked the lorry,driver and the load,which was found to be

insecure,and so the complete load was unloaded and resecured,

what was very strange about the load,was, that it comprmised of

24tn blatt gold worth 300 MILLION EURO; and the driver was

alone with out any security at all, I wonder what the insurance firms

would think of this,

This is Ferdy from TopRun, Switzerland. He was driving for Wittwer AG at the time and the load is gold bullion.
This is normal on the Continent. Certain firms would be called by the bullion store at short notice to supply a tilt. They would load & go. In Swiss the driver has the option of carring a gun for the trip which can be to UK.
Hangartners used to do the silver bullion UK to Swiss in tilts.

although nowhere near as valuable, we used to load coin blanks and blank credit cards from de la rue to swiss and other countries (except italy thankfully :wink: ) and that was always 5pm booking for loading 8am next day and gone

And I used to bring the 50p blanks from Swiss to the Mint in Wales… :laughing:
