I was surprised that the fireworks only cost what they did.
I watched it on the telly as my lads wanted to stay up and I was (to my surprise) blown away by it, thought it was bloody impressive. Worth the money? Not sure really.
I’m lucky enough to have seen the NYE celebrations from a good spot in Sydney a couple of times and the London celebration seemed a close second. Although I was sitting on my sofa in my warm house and not standing in the cold damp London air! At least in Australia it’s in the mid summer.

They could have spent it on something boring. At least this way we got to see a nice fireworks display!
i’d much prefer to see this than any other way the government ■■■■■■ 270 grand down the drain. it was very good and almost in time

I think he actually agrees with RobRob (Only one letter different) As it happens I agree with RobRob too, fantastic display and showcases the UK world wide, in the Olympic year we really do need to be positive!
I thought it was awesome. Great idea to mix it with music and all the songs were bang on. In relation to other things it wasnt expensive and was worth it in my opinion. On the whole very impressive.
Why does everything have to always come down to money. It Olympic year, everybody is watching us, it was great. What else should have been done with the money, bearing in mind that the amount it cost is nothing in the grand scheme of running a country. It’d be like having 20p in your pocket and not spending it in the coffee machine because it’d be ‘a waste of money’.

Sorry, typo caused by two posters with similar names. Meant to agree with RobRob and disagree with you! 
It was the best display so far in London! And considering that not that long ago! There was NO NY celebration in the Capital!! 
(It was Edinburgh that was on the TV)

Looks like I,m in a minority here, I just think that with things being a bit tight, irrespective of quarter mill + being a relatively small amount, if it were to be combined with other similar amounts, that are arguably miss spent, it could be put to better uses, maybe I,m naive/live in cloudcuckooland/need to get real/ or anything else you can think of but I reckon there are bigger priorities than firework displays.
Hope the emmisions from them london fireworks met euro 4 standard !!! lol

I think you probably are in the minority, the money spent on fireworks and celebrations could have paid for a new children’s playground in Tobermory and we would never have known about it.
