A Funny Thing Happened To Me

Last night I stayed in Castleford, the usual place on the industrial estate next to Excape. I went for a few pints up on the main road then indulged in a large donna on the way back to the wagon (kebab that is, before anyone says otherwise). I duly finished the kebab then retired for the evening with full intentions of a 0700 departure.

About 0430 I was awoken by an alarm going off and immediatlely thought one of the cars on the back was getting screwed, so immediately looked out of the window and noticed the trailer had gone! Panic stricken I tried to gather my senses before realising it was the side window I was looking out of, and the trailer fixes on the back of the unit (I think) Anyway the alarm was on a building and the trailer was still there.

I only had 4 pints too!

Im so glad its not just me…Done that myself once just havent felt man enough to admit it

hadnt had a drink!!!

thought you might have stayed at whitwwod truckstop mate, never stayed there too local for me to stay there.

You need to increase you intake to about 8 or 10 pints, then you wont even care about the trailer or the alarm
or the 07:00 departure come to think of it

I parked up on a slope in the docks at Hollyhead one night waiting for the morning boat. Was woken by a bit of a bump, looked out of the screen to see the back end of an Irish trailer resting against the cab. Was all fired up ready to jump out and complain when I looked in the mirror and noticed the fence I had backed up to was now about 60 feet away. :open_mouth: The released handbrake told the story, it was faulty, had slipped off while I was asleep allowing me to roll gently down the slope 'till I met the Irishman. Fortunately he was a sounder sleeper than me so I sheepishly fired her up and returned to my fence, set the brake, left it in reverse and put the wheel on full left lock.

Only damage was a bent wiper arm. :unamused:

Just as well the slope did not lead to the water!! :unamused:

HAVE YOU EVER woken up dived for the steering wheel whilst slamming on the brake and pulling on the handbrake
only to realise you DREAMT you were asleep at the wheel…

just me then

Yes  , also when I had the Guy Invincible mentioned somewhere else I was comfortably stretched out on the bonnet on a warm summer’s day waiting for a fitter to come and fix a fuel problem, when he arrived - and banged on the side of the cab. :open_mouth: :smiling_imp: With legs jerking in all directions I nearly put the windscreen out.
