Have you tried LD Line, St Nazaire to Gijon , very reasonable and its a 15 hour night crossing , we always go that way now.

I have heard of the robber stories, a car with a gang will flag a camper van or a tourist car and point out that they are on fire or have a puncture, you pull over to investigate, and the other gang members distract you and the stuff in the car is robbed.
If you can get to Praia De Guincho near Cascais on the Estoril coast line near Lisbon, you will like that.
It was quite common to see a fleet of limousines and police cars/motorbikes escorting a VIP or Governement official to the restaurants that line the coast line on the way to Guincho.
If you cross the bridge with the statue of Christ, the resorts of Caparica and Setubal are worth a visit, fresh fish meals and grilled sardines.
Sintra and Queluz are worth a visit too.
By going north along the coast from Lisbon to Porto, you have the beaches of Peniche, and Figueria de Foz, this town was once vistited by the rich and famous in it`s heyday.
If you stay on the national road you may get a glimpse of a very large USA owned paper mill, called Soporcell, you can smell it too.
Enjoy the trip.

Two weeks and I’m off to Europe too. Car and caravan for me though, so you can all hate me. back at the end of July.

Ain’t retirement wonderful?

Ain’t retirement wonderful?

Isn’t it just, we toyed with the idea of going down with our caravan next winter but a 2 bed apartment for 50 eur .per week worked out cheaper than taking it down and site fees.
