Great pics Jonny.Keep picking up the camera and post some more.
Cheers Dave.
Refreshing to see a complete lack of H.and S. nonsense here.Let us know if any of the folks who were having fun were seriously injured because no one told them that they could fall off.

Nobody got hurt. Everyone had a good time, police were there in fact to ensure everything went smoothly so I’m sure if there was any H&S issues they would have been raised…also the only ones stood up on the floats were the adults and as you can see of most of the pictures were of the trucks at a standstill. Adults supervised the kids to ensure they stayed sat down/didn’t fall off the float. The only people who got hurt were those who drank too much barley water and went out to cause trouble.
I even took the time out of my day to send M H Poskitt an email sending a link to the picture of their lorry ‘helping’ the community and a thanks to the driver who offered to help my dad back out of the grounds where the lorries were parked up at the end of the carnival.
But to regard H&S issues, there was more H&S or lack of with me taking pictures down at the canal being right next to the water knelt down taking photographs. It was a good day && those who were on the trailers I don’t think they needed telling it would hurt if they fell off the side of the trailer…

I drove a carnival float once and I was still finding 2p pieces in the trailer six months later!

Seems a bit lazy they didn’t take the curtains off properly and just strapped them back.

Nice little picture that harry! Thankfully Prestons wern’t too keen on using on of their own trailers so they hired one in incase the folk who did up the trailers didn’t clean up but they never quite cleared up the whole trailer when they were finished still bits of the little green frilly stuff in the trailer
But if my dad ends up driving the carnival float next year he’ll be using one of prestons own trailers
But more than likely I’ll be roped into helping out next year although to be fair I did help my dad fasten up the curtains when it came hometime so I did my bit for the day
Still waiting to find out who won the float competition yet
Although we think that went out the window from the beginning. But was a nice change from the usual nobby’s/malcolms lorries being seen at the carnival
Maybe we could see your motor at the carnival next year harry!
Cheers

Great pictures mate, my kids have been on those floats a couple of times. I even recognise some of the kids on the DHL swimming club one.
Knottingley carnival is great until about 5pm when the drink has flowed a bit too much and there’s usually a scrap or two.
