Just an observation here, don’t shoot me…
We are taught/instructed as professional drivers (as a guideline) to check our mirrors, alternatively around every 7 seconds so check right, wait 7 seconds and check left, wait 7 seconds, check right so that would give around 15 to 20 seconds per cycle including the 1 second you are actually looking in the mirror etc.
Just how long does it take for a much faster car to pass 3 vehicles travelling at 40mph ?
Roughly 15 seconds from level with the back of the rearmost of the 3 cars to level with the front bumper of the artic at 60 mph. Lorry has travelled approximately 300yds. 8 seconds at 80mph and the lorry has travelled 150yds. Less time if the cars are following too close.

It’s all very well saying that the overtaker can take care of himself and you have no responsibility towards him, but what about the poor people coming the other way?
I think we had a similar thing before. what do you do when a car is overtaking and it decides that it wont make it and you see that as well. so you brake so he could pull in but he brakes at the same time as you do. the car has nowhere to go because YOU have braked because you anticipated and all that but still there was a fatality and bla bla bla. would you get the blame for braking or what? I know its been discussed on here couple year ago but cant remember what was the right thing to do. do you plough on as you were and ■■■■ the idiot or brake together and see what happens. but anyway it’ll always be lorry drivers fault so…

To be fair this is better than most of the footage recently but from a pro / vocational driver standards you didn’t ease off noticably to help the car out and have posted the dashcam footage on youtube like a big girl.
On the plus side you didn’t accelerate and are below 50mph on S/C which puts you at a higher standard than most other tipper drivers.
I will give you 8/10 for this, keep up the good work but room for improvement…
Cheers for the 8/10 I had seen the moron coming but had other vehicles very close to me so braking hard wasn’t really an option for me, he had scrubbed a fair amount of speed off by the time he got to me.

Exactly, and for this reason I was taught to maintain current speed in such a situation.
Only action OP should’ve taken is moved a little towards the offside and forced the ■■■■ either up the other verge or into you both you’d be fine if you and scanny driver were buckled up.
And it clearly wouldn’t be your fault if you were sitting on your side of the white lines albeit closer than usual, ■■■■■■■■ drivers like that need taught a lesson
Just the usual, trucker doing bang on 40 on a decent road, queue of frustrated vehicles bumper to bumper behind sat mile after mile, one driver decides they have had enough and attempt to overtake and this is the end result.
Options:
A - ■■■■ off into a layby when a queue develops
B - do a decent speed and grow a set of observant balls
C - continue like this but get ready to bail out

why the ■■■■ should I? Its upto the impatient brain deads to deal with their own impatience and get over it, not mine.
B - do a decent speed and grow a set of observant balls.
And when you kill some other brain dead that pulls out infront of you, you then get done for causing death by dangerous driving because it was proved you were speeding. No Ta. Ive been close to that already whilst exceeding 40 and it slowed me down. Came close to sqishing a farm boy on a quad!
