Personally I blame the MP’s , the top management at said places,
But also the unions have a lot to answer for .
For ■■■■■ sake after WW2 the government told the people at bletchly park to destroy the first computer that helped decyper the German enigma machine,
We GAVE not one but two jet engines to the Americans (the same country that won’t give us the source code to work the eletrics on a buy off chinook helicopters that lay for years undercover till this was sorted)
We where the world leaders in so many things but either stood back and rested on our laurels or where stupid and didn’t think anyone could beat us!
The wigs put in an order for equipment then half way through they change what they want it to do,it happens with all the stuff they buy EG English electric Lightning ( we want guns on , and a range of ■■■,1 year later no guns we dont need them on fighters anymore by the way we need to extend the range to xxxx 6 months later design the guns back on and increase the range) this is all true listen to the wigs involved with the two new aircraft carriers we dont want catapult to launch the jets ho hang on yes we do ,so dont blame british companies and the work force all the time they only do as they are asked it is the mules that give the orders and ideas the same pricks that think up our rules and regs.

I find the gist of this post a bit rich , I continually read posts from members of our profession who refused to drive ERF`s S/Atkinsons ,Fodens , etc etc etc and were very happy to drive off into the distance in Scanias , Volvos , etc etc etc and at the same time watch factories in Sandbach , Preston , gearbox factories in Manchester ,engine plants in Shotts and stand by while hundreds lost their jobs when they closed , all so they could drive a trendy / ■■■■ truck without a care about British jobs !!!" . The boot is now on the other foot .
It’s fair enough spending the money abroad if the kit is undeniably better and I have to say that although i’m no expert, Scania/Volvo have consistently made better kit than ERF/Atki/Foden. THe UK can actually build decent ships though.
That’s the biggest laugh in recent years, the aircraft carriers they’ve ordered that they haven’t got any planes to fly off for a decade odd & also them Chinooks that they couldn’t fly for ages, you just couldn’t make it up if you tried. Folks should have been executed for stuff like that going down, tongue in cheek but really…
