A A Lock Headcorn

Evening guys any info on the above usual stuff please thanks

The company has been going a long time and always had an excellent reputation. I have never seen an advertisement for drivers or fitters which would probably indicate that it is word of mouth or being in the know. I worked with a couple of people who later went to Locks where they stayed for many years. The fleet always appears smart and carefully driven on its often cross country rips to and from Rye where some of the loading takes place. The company was hounded out of its old yard in the village by new residents who didn’t like lorries, it is now about 1/4 mile further south in the old Unigate dairy premises.

I knocked on the door some years ago looking for work and was given an immediate informal chat with Alan Lock himself. There was no joy since there were no fitting vacancies, but I was impressed that in spite of this I was granted time out of the day, greeted in a very friendly and courteous way and wished good luck.

I’ll echo what Cav has written above; an extremely well established and run Co, the kit whilst not always brand new is immaculate and obviously carefully maintained. I used to wash out there in which I’m assuming was the old yard as Cav says they’ve now moved and all the folk I dealt with were friendly and helpful with none of the “attitude” that outsiders sometimes get.

Proper mirror killers the roads around there though!

Not sure they where hounded out of the village I think the land in the village became too valuable to sit trucks on .

so far so good nothing negative which makes a change
