Mr.Shep:
Dont think these cameras are set to work out the difference in sizes of vehicles.
No, but they are connected directly to a central computer. The computer knows what size of vehicle you are, because it is connected directly to the DVLA (or whatever they call themselves these days).
I was quite sure that, because they are directly linked to DVLA, they do know your vehicle specifics including the speed limit applicable to your vehicle.
If it is true that they don’t look at vehicle specifics, then that would explain how i’ve seen others ‘flying’ past.
All cameras and speed guns have to allow at least 10% plus 1 for differences between their equipment and yours. A Police Inspector told me that, so they are not set rigid on 40 or 50 if thats the speed limit, and if they are then surely you have a case to argue in court. You can always argue in court, was the police equipment correctly calibrated and can they prove this? It has been done before, and guess what, they law lost cos they couldnt prove it had been calibrated in accordance with home office rules.

I think that the Police do have the calibration certificates etc. It’s just that it costs more to actually get them out and produce them in court than they get from the fine.
