£60 fine and 3 points for not wearing the right shoes?

I’ve said it b4 but i wish it was possible in my line of work to leave my boots on the steps.
Odd time i have done and driving in socks is great.

Chris you have a pm.

never wear shoe in summer normally drive bare foot as i just stick flip flops on didnt realise it was illegal here i know in germany you can get done for wearing footwear without a strap to stop them slippin off yer feet or something around them lines putting shoes and socks on every morning is far to much work

Speaking as an ex ADI (cars) I taught a woman who took all her lessons in barefeet and her test- which she passed.

There were also those who took lessons and their tests in big platform shoes.

No examiners ever remarked about this.

The rule as I understood it was, you can where what you like on your feet, if anything at all, as long as you had complete and proper control of the vehicle.

I know (from experience  ) that in Euro land it’s “frowned on” by the “authorities” if there is no ■■■■■■■■ the heel of whatever you’re wearing, and they don’t “like” barefoot either. Not sure wether it’s actually illegal, but know I always have/had a pair of strapped sandals that I could get on a bit quick :unamused:

Coddy:
Bout time they start looking at all the women driving in high heels then aint it!!

I think that there are some men wearing them too.

bikemonkey:
does anyone know whether this could be true or not ■■

Total ■■■■■■■■, there are some very obvious holes in that story which show it to be false.

Give it a couple of weeks and ask to see the ‘offence’ on his licence. The only way he will be able to show it to you is if writes it on himself.

Ladies and Gentlemen, for Germany,

a NO; the fine is around €50 now, and
take note if you are involved in a accident
whilist useing inapropiate footwear the

And bare feet ?

I remember when petrol went up to 9 shillings and 6 d. per gallon there were all sorts of money saving tips e.g attaching copper washers to the coil high tension lead also driving in socks would make a driver be more sensitive in using the pedals and so use less fuel.

I find hard soles better for driving trucks but slipper type soft soled better for cars.

Not Allowed, but you may find; some people turn a blind eye,all depends on the enforcement officer,

So how come Pete in over 20 years of driving in Germany and the countless controls I have been stopped in during that time, while wearing an assortment of footwear including clacks, flip-flops, shower slippers or even just socks, my footwear has never been questioned or caused a problem? Not so much as a warning about the type of footwear required. Also not one driver I personally know has ever had a problem with their choice of footwear, or again even had it mentioned to them in Germany, or anywhere else for that matter.

Which, if it were true, would actually draw attention to the lower leg area and therefore incur the wrath of the shoe police. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

I have just got off the phone to a Wolfram Kuse a German truck driver for over 40 years and i read your comment to him …

He is probably still laughing now !!

He has never heard of such a rule, and he wears clacks whilst driving.

Are you sure you have your facts right ?

bikemonkey:
Was speaking to a driver yesterday who told me he was stopped by Vosa at Sutton Scotney and cause he was wearing those clacks or slippers or something he was given a £60 fine and 3 points :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
?

I take it the police were with vosa ?, (They don’t have to be as Vosa employ stoppers for checks now) Vosa can’t give FPN fines and points can they ?

speedyguy:

Exactly, that was what I meant about a couple of obvious mistakes in the BS. VOSA’s power to issue Fixed Penalties doesn’t come in until later this year.

And ive been going for near on 15 years now and never had a problem either. There are a lot of drivers now wearing those lumpy steel toecapped strange clack type shoes with a ■■■■■■■■ though now. Im not saying your wrong pete maybe i`m just lucky?
