Find me a written LAW that requires a TV licence and I’ll personally give you a million or two million quid!

Havent paid for a tv tax in 11 years and I never will… they knock on the door and I tell them to leave. I give them no information, I don’t answer their questions, I am not legally or contractually required to.

how does that work then ?

I know the thread has gone off on a tangent…but i aggree why should you pay for the drivel on bbc and still pay for satelite or other tv…because like everything in the uk pay up and shut up or your threatened with this and that…if you pay money you can do anything…if your skint take the risk and pay the fine later…either way they have you by the knackers.

Hi macci

Look up Part 4 of the Communications Act 2003. This deals specifically with the need to have a TV licence (providing you have a TV). It carries a maximum level 3 penalty on the standard tariff which is £1000 max fine.

Is the million still available lol

No, you can’t have your million or two million quid as you have yet to show me where its written in LAW

Here it is. Scroll down to where it says Part 4

legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2003/21/part/4

You stick to that line - and pay your licence.

I prefer my quote that said “show me where its written in LAW

Funnily enough no court - or even Crown dependencies (arggg) have YET to show where its written in law. I have yet to be prosecuted for not having a TV licence as I have challenged this in court and have had the case dismissed everytime. And thanks to the “people” that brought these cases against me, I’m £700+ legal expenses in credit.

Don’t think its only me that has challenged the need for a TV licence - but there are thousands that have.

You have to know how to challenge it and It would be unfair of me to use this site as a “political?” or “argumentative” tool.

Those who whish to pay to their TV licence should do so if they are worried about the fines.

Just a re-cap… SHOW ME A WRITTEN LAW THAT SAYS YOU MUST HAVE A TV LICENCE

ADVICE** If you intend to challenge the need for a TV licence - please seek appropriate legal advice.

Or - write to the tv licensing authority - and refuse their right of access to your property.

THERE IS NO LAW THAT REQUIRES YOU TO HAVE A TV LICENCE. ACTS ARE NOT LAWS

AGAIN - THERE IS NO LAW THAT REQUIRES YOU TO HAVE A TV LICENCE.

LGVtrainer

It might save you money - but you LEGALLY don not need a TV licence.

Find a good lawyer who deals with (common) LAW and you might save a few quid…

ACTS - as you quoted - are NOT laws…

Sorry to add this on LGVtrainer

But they question \ point was

"SHOW ME WHERE ITS WRITTEN IN LAW"

I can tell “YOU CAN’T

And finally for the idiiots who thiink they need a tv licence… blank

Here’s my tuppence worth
Taken from

parliament.uk/about/how/laws/acts/

An Act of Parliament creates a new law or changes an existing law. An Act is a Bill approved by both the House of Commons and the House of Lords and formally agreed to by the reigning monarch (known as Royal Assent). Once implemented, an Act is law and applies to the UK as a whole or to specific areas of the country.

Not that I have huge issues with people not paying tv licence, that’s their choice, I just feel this adds to the discussion

Erm think again re ACT and law under staute / common law acts are used take the road traffic ACT section 165 used to sieze un insured vehicles or the Police and Criminal ACT of 1984 ammend by the police act 2006 etc … where under section 136 they can detain under the mental Health ACT … that is just two examples of ACTS which are used legally and lawfully.

Sure they don’t need access to your house, to see that you have a tv or not! They can sit out side your house, and still find out if you have. Now surely if your done for an act, or an offence then your done in a court of law!

Good post, however - ACTS of Parliament are not LAWS. If you are happy to accept such acts made for commercial reasons by Parliament - then all well and good.

This is my last comment on this thread, as it can get tedious in explaining, and deflects from the real reasons of what the site is all about.

I’m happy living within the boundaries of the law. And as for a TV licence, why have a TV in the first place!

So what you are saying is that everytime a copper arrests someone, then they are arrested illegally as all the laws they uphold were acts that went through parliment, the house of lords etc … ie PACE 1984 … it is a crimminal law to avoid paying for a TV licence when using an an electrical device which transmitts picture … look under the Lord hansard and you will find the law.

Come on chaps, its gone a bit off topic now :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, if the man from the licencing authority knocks on the door, just tell him you’ve no wish to subscribe to a ■■■■■■■■■■ organisation. That should send him on his way :open_mouth:

And as for the bloke (back on topic) that started this thread, he’s probably on drugs.
