£5.50 per hour

Big ■■■■:
This still is not as bad as G.B.A. services class 1 £70 per day + £40 night out now I know some drivers would say wow that’s £110 a day
£550 per week but don`t forget this is for double manning so that’s 21 hours a day
and you could spend £25 per day out of your n/out money in Europe I did when doing euro work

£70 divide in 21 = £3.33 :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

class 2 60 quid a day, 40 night out… Probably including parking. How do they get any drivers?

The bits they don’t say in the job description are that they do not pay you the day rate if you are on weekly rest in the truck be that a reduced 24hrs or full weekly rest, and during other driving bans(holidays) and should they send you to say Norway or Sweden they wont pay the day rate and meal allowance whilst on the ferry as meals are inclusive , they also don’t say that they pay all new drivers £10 less per day whilst on the probationary period which i think is 3 mths , wages are paid monthly and it used to be work 1 mth in advance before they pay you
As said mostly it’s double manned work so will max out your hrs most of the time, 21hrs for £70-80 per day
I actually did at one point not so long ago think about returning to work for them, but once i found out about the no pay for this & that bollox , i decided not to bother

How they get staff ? i guess there are a lot of desperate people out there , plus as said it’s continental /European work ,some of the time

The reason these type of jobs do not attract proper drivers, but at the same time are ALWAYS filled, is that you are guaranteed to get some star who is not only willing …but also eager :unamused: , to work for next to ■■■■ all, as long as they can pose about and be seen in a Supermegatopgiggaliner with spotlights and crap, and/or to say they are a Euro driver, that’s one of the reasons why the money situation is as it is for the rest of us.
Employers are fully aware of this and take full advantage of it.

Let 'em carry on, leave the few remaining good jobs for those in the know.

Years ago i had a cracking little job on a small supermarket company, very basic day cab tractors, pokey little stores wth some horrendous back doors that really sharpened your manoeuvering up, some cages to shift which gave a bit of exercise, those ridiculed day cabs with all round windows were the perfect tool for the job.

Very well paid, home every night after a normal working blokes hours on the job and steady work keeping to all speed limits etc, glory boys not interested cos lack of lorry kudos (seriously) which was just as well as we didn’t want any glory boys carving the job up either.
