How many more youngsters / ‘Boy Racers’ will it take before they realise the perils of the road.
I’m thinking all other drivers on here have offspring coming up to that age of driving licence entitlement and that many will fear any bad news through whatever medium.
As professional drivers which the above forum title dictates, what’s your message to your young’ns
Mine to my lad was…‘’ We can replace bent metal… We can’t replace you’'…
Yes. He did have his field day… one well built German made car he was driving came to altication with several steel reinforced concrete bollards. Thankfully, he came out unscathed…all 6’ ****in 10’’ of 'im
Question:- What’s your line or thoughts to your own offspring & given the above, how would you pass on your professional advice?

Yes I’m in that boat as my Daughter is 17 in September and all her mates are in the same year therefore they’ll be a lot of them passing in the next year or so, can’t say I’m not worried.
it was my next door neighbour feel for the family i do, couldn’t imagine what they’re going through. The roads around the Brecon are notoriously bad and often see crashes, sadly this one was fatal.

Perfect advice; and poignant advice. But with the music turned up too loudly, the adrenaline flowing and perhaps a little more than advisable alcohol in the system, our precious young forget these dear words.

This simple advice to the young is more crucial than we experienced old drivers realise. Remembering the near-misses I had as a youngster, I’d take it a step further and say: treat every bend with suspicious caution until you know it well.
The other advise I’d give is: be a driver first and foremost. And if that means turning the music down because you want to hear what the engine /gearbox is doing so be it; if that means failing to impress your non-driving, non-responsible passengers by refusing to be a boy-racer so be it. Sigh! We can but try. Robert
No matter what advice you give your children/teens, are they going to listen ?
I don’t know, but I do know I didn’t listen to anything my father told me, I had big motorbikes from the age of 17 and looking back now, I know I worried them sick.
When I was 18 it was all about street cred passed test bought 205 gti 800 quid not knowing about insurance drove it for 6 months then hit the pocket soon found out. Traded in for a KA lol brand new 1000 scrap scheme hated it but still pretended it was fast… viper stripes blue neon’s on wash jets screw on big bore pipe KnN heart pumping all the time adrenalin is a drug I must have lots of guardian angels I don’t know why I’m still here. I look back on reflection now and kick my self got 3 of my own now just hope they are lucky like me/ they pretend to take it in so I am still in the process of finding a way that sticks oldest is only 11. (90 on back roads at night & 127 motorway ) Few years back I thought I had no luck. Don’t think its just cat’s… (Drive slow & carful with young uns watching asking them what if sonic the hedge hog run out and all sorts of other nice things) etc. But make it fun & serious find a balance not to boring ■■■. HUGE PLUSS 1 ROBERT.

My line of thought is that kids will ignore their parents when peer pressure / hormones kick in, so as fear is the one absolute that will stick in their minds my advice to my children is.
To drive in a manner that I would find acceptable, if I get a whiff of them pratting about or endangering themselves and others they will lose the privelidge to drive and get a smacked bottom.
This may not do much apart from change a moment of Intense stupidity into just a minor silly moment.
I will also try and pass on some of my experience in forward planning and road rage control on to them or get a proper driver to.
Most important of all will be the strict ban on wearing a hi viz vest whilst driving as other road users will just think they are agency.

No, they are not! Hundreds of thousands of people drive on them every day without crashing. There is no such thing as a bad road, only bad driving.
to a new driver (passed his test 3 days before the crash) it’s a bad road, going from town driving to driving up and around the brecons it’s a big difference but i do agree that a bad driver makes a bad road
Mine cant drive yet, my advice would be Any fool can make a car go fast, but it takes a driver to make one stop. There was a similar tragedy near Crieff a few years ago .R.I.P. and sympathies to the bereaved,I cant imagine a parent attending their own childs funeral.
