A 34 Southbound Overnight

Wondering if a night driver could advise on overnight diversions south of Oxford. Is this OK for a 16" 2" DD?

I don’t normally work nights, but Friday night am travelling from Coventry Airport to Southampton in a decker. Any route advice welcome, I realise A46 and M3 also have closures that could affect alternatives if required.

Return will be OK as after 06:00am. Thanks in advance.

How far South of Oxford?

I think it’s somewhere between Didcot and M4.

The Highways Agency website seems to cause more confusion than help.

I can confirm it has been closed south of the Didcot turn off. Unfortunately I don’t know the diversion.

You’ll get through with a DD. The roads are a bit tight in some places though!

I’m guessing off at Milton roundabout and turn right, away from Didcot and follow that road all the way to Chiltern roundabout.

Diversions around there are usually well sign posted.

That’s correct, easy as that, nothing to worry about. If closed at Abingdon/A415, head in to Abingdon, come to twin mini roundabouts and turn right heading for Drayton…just follow this road to Steventon and up to the traffic lights and turn right, heading for Harwell…this is the same road that you will be on from the Didcot turn

Thanks guys for your help.

Understand where I’m going now, and more importantly what I did wrong about three years ago on the same diversion.
