£31,500 a year anyone?!

I applied for a job as a day driver but lived too far away for day work so I was placed on a waiting list for tramper jobs. Got rang up last week from this number 01514954450 and asked to go for interview at Purfleet. They said it was Mon to Fri but had no other details.
I have only just signed up to a new contract at my existing job a day or so before (after being at risk of redundancy all year and having to undergo a number of BS one to ones), so its now of no use to me as my anticipated wage this year will be at least £10k more than this thread.

Nice work thanks alot. Looking to get into euro work but just passed so need a door to open

couldnt live on £31500 i’m afraid.

You have a wife n kids n a morgage then I assume?!

it’s just over £600 per week, minus NI, minus tax. Add on your nights out and you’re back at about £600 per week.
Average pay for tramping.

saints are a decent company, a lot of air freight work.

I concur. I’m hoping the damned estuary airport (boris island) gets built, because then I’d have a decent firm open a local depot worth going back full time for!

The ad seems way beneath their normal pay range, which is rather odd for the same heathrow neighbourhood.

Ummm! kind of brings things into perspective a bit.
£31,500 per annum is about half the salary and double the hours the likes of…ie… ESL’s corporate lawyers and accountants are paid to put drivers on the dole. :unamused:

Oh look, someone with a chip on their shoulder

That isn’t a “someone” - it’s a member of a rather large queue…

It’s a divorce and an IVA that costs the money - not “a wife and umpteen kids to support” anymore! :open_mouth:

“familied to death” is so last week!

Not bad but nothing special. At our place, just over an hour away, the different contracts are being harmonised and buy next September we’ll be on just over £30,000 for a 48 WTD hours week any 5 from 7. We will also be getting an unsocial hours premium between 19:00 & 06:00 so could add over £100 a week for that while at work (not when on leave).

Just add the weekend and night premiums, and you’re there!

Bloody women are a pain in the ■■■ and the wallet mate!

This is £594.00 a week less stoppages leaves about £463.32 divided by 4- 12 hour shifts = £115.83 per shift divided by 10.5 hours as they will stop your breaks just over £11.00 an hour for nights that is rubbish should be nearer £16.00 an hour for nights :smiling_imp:

Co-op lads at our place are on over £14 a hour on nights (although they are salary it works out at this rate) for 48hr average over 5 days however they very rarely get anywhere near 48hrs unless they break down, they generally do 35hrs a week (not including breaks) which makes it £18.10 a hour not bad aye.
