£2500 fine at Bradford on Avon bridge

In the Wiltshire Times an article mentions the same driver going 4 times over the 18 ton weight limit, and was caught by the lorry spotters.
In the Readers Letters, a writer blames the big lorries blocking the town and he received a parking ticket for not getting to his car on time.
A lorry spotter also wrote to the Letters column to blame the high volume of car traffic that has no need to go through the town, in a timed limit he counted how many passed through, and it was a very high figure.
In the same paper, the Police had to get an artic out of a small street where he was stuck , no mention of a fine for the driver/firm.

in the near future i can see that weight limit being reduced to a 7.5 ton on the bridge with all the new building work going on,on the waterside.i once went over bridge with a class2 11metre plated at 15ton and got mouthful from some local,i just turned my music up and smiled.to be honest i would not miss going any where near there in the future.

You can go down the b3107 b3109 from Staverton side without passing through any weight limits but going through some heavily residential parts of the town. i have taken to this practice since some contemptible retirees, whose kids don’t visit them very often, decided to fill their pathetic empty lives trying to catch out hard-working, and not particularly well paid, drivers of goods vehicles who’re just trying to earn a living.

No doubt he had sunglasses,a scania and thought he was the" bees knees"

What a cupid stunt!!!

Or the “frilly curtains” blocked the view of the warning sign of the imminent weight limit.

I have had a brilliant idea

put a delivery hub on the outskirts of the town and send in all goods with mega quiet milk floats through the night when nobody is about.

then put an extra line on their council tax bill underneath parish church labelled “night goods shipment” £250 per annum

Seem to be hearing alot about this bridge and town lately, i dont really know this area but why are so many lorries going over it dispite all the attention, is it some kind of short cut for somewhere?

Only if you’re going or coming from Trowbridge i suppose but it really is a cracking little picturesque town.

You’re hearing a lot about this town as it its tobys 4/5th thread on it in as many months.

It is a 20 mile difference by going through the town, they have had stuck lorries, broken down ones, foreign ones stuck down narrow lanes damaging houses.
Locals have been known to stand in front of moving trucks and given drivers a verbal bashing for going in there.
