‘The truck was specified with a full complement of options and cost some £220,000, while the bill for the supremely capable and flexible German-built trailer — which can be coupled with up to 10 axle lines — came in at £800,000.’
The truck cost £220,000 I’m assuming the new trailer would be the reason for such a high bill!
Cheers
Jonny
Okay, got it, £220k for the unit and £800k for the trailer.
Still, it makes you wonder what their rate per mile is

Saw that bobtailing down the A350 into Westbury last week. It’s an impressive piece of kit!
What a beast. Would love to have a spin in such a thing. Shame its not the new shape but am I right in thinking they only do engines up to 510 in the new one at the moment? Maybe MB are about to shock everyone and reveal a 800hp plus beast soon!

You stand correct.
Source:
The range of engines available for the new Actros has been extended thanks to two new displacement classes: the Euro VI*) in-line engines will in future also be available with 7.7 liter and 10.7 liter displacement. Together with the 12.8 liter Euro V and Euro VI engines which have been available up until now, this gives 13 power bands**), from 175 kW to 375 kW.
Detroit offer a 15 litre option in the states presumably that will be offered at some point.
I spotted it in their yard a few weeks ago and put a picture in cool registrations becuse of the number plate .

You can get the 15 litre in Arocs. Up to 460 kW. So it is not impossible that you will see the same engine in an Actros some day.
Here’s another one

That’s the 15.6litre engine known in the states as the DD16 and currently goes to 625, but units with considerably more are in field trials at the moment. I have not heard of any plans to offer what the yanks call the DD15 in Actros. The Merc version of the 13 litre goes to 510 and the 16 litre is starting at 520, so there doesn’t seem to be much room for the 14.6 litre DD15 engine in the European plans.
