going into philosophy mode now
95% of us are broke, just at different levels. only people with real cash liquidity can do as they please, .
to quote a phrase “capitalism at its finest”
I have come to the conclusion that I have become a slave to my possessions. … I think its a mid life crisis thing [50 this year].
I can sympathise with him, I struggle on £150 grand a year and have to go without a few luxuries, but what the hell i am happy in my life.
Haven’t got a clue where he lives or represents, but for those wishing to commute into Central Hell, sorry, London, then thats the sort of salary packages needed.
For those of us living thankfully miles from the dump, the salary stated would indeed be quite decent.
Is this a Daily Mailesque or other made up gunk story, there might be any number of reasons for anyone to resign their jobs.

He has reigned because of money but there’s a bit of creative editing of the truth by the OP
Mark Simmonds feels that the expenses don’t allow him to have a second home in London where his family can stay when he’s there to fulfil his duties as Foreign Office Minister.
Apparently he informed Cameraon of his decision to resign a few weeks ago.
I suppose £120k wont go far when you need to buy/rent a London flat which most MP’s will need due to the varied hours they need to be at Westminster etc. Even sharing will still be expensive, then there is travel costs etc. A lot live in rural communities and probably only get home at weekends, then they have their own Constituents to attend to besides having a family life. Not everyone’s cup of tea as a way of life.
Pete.
I believe he was happy with his salary, it was the expenses that made him quit because it is capped at £28 grand, and he would need a large apartment to accomodate his wife and 3 kids, and 28 grand wouldnt cover it. So why doesnt he just do a 5 day week like the others and travel home to the mansion, if truckers can be away for weeks at a time, if truckers can only see their families at weekends, why cant our MP`s do it, and i think its sad that hes the only one who has resigned because of expenses, most of them are sacked for the gross injustice of being found to have misjudged theirs. It seems that they are now no longer going to be named and shamed when claiming 10p for drawing pins, or 19p for blue tack.
Should do as the aussie parliament does - you get allocated an apartment in a government block - no home expenses to claim then and no profiteering on rises in the london property market as some have done by " flipping " them between home and constituancy home which means you pay no profit on any you sell that has had expenses claimed for.
A portacabin and a portaloo is good or enough for these overpaid ■■■■■■■■ who masquerade as MP’s.
Let them sleep on the streets as their policies have helped others less fortunate than them to do just that
Cannot really knock our MP as he seems to do a decent job of work for the local community and certainly puts some hours in. Some bad ones I suppose, just like in any other job.
Pete.

Cheers Dave.
