Norwich Union are already using this technology, on an experimental level, to charge car drivers by the times & area’s they drive in / at.

IT DOES WORK.

But like digital tacho’s & ID cards who is going to pay ?.

Also Is this price per mile suggested for Cars, PSV’s, HGV’s & Motorbikes & what will be the cost of such pricing to the consumer ?.
This is going to send inflation into overdrive, so it’s going to take a very brave goverment to introduce it.

It seems a good idea to tackle congestion that we all face on a daily basis, but it has to be lookd at in a realistic manner. We are a small island and it seems that the average family has 2/3 cars and it doesnt take long to work out that there really are too many for such a small place. What worries me is if this scheme is introduced for trucks as well…it will be chaotic…the average truck works for £1 a mile…lets say the congestion charge is £1 a mile…we can all work for nothing…and the government pay us a wage…ha ha …its obvious everything will have to rise…drivers want an increase for the extra money he has to pay to get to work…when he arrives the boss will want to earn a living…so with having to pay the new charges on a pence per mile basis…he obviously wants a profit…so the rates will have to go up…and guess who pays for that…you…me …the consumer…the freight companies…and about time too…i cant wait…
