Well lets try and put into perspective exactly where you’re coming from.
Does anyone who hits a brow, at whatever speed, deserve to crash, burn & die because they didn’t see the tyre carcass lying in the road ?
Again, we don’t hate you . . . we pity you.
They don’t but at the same time do I risk getting done for ‘wasting emergency services time’ when I could have called highways or 101 had I felt the need to…? Or mind my own & get a good night’s sleep when I get home having had no bs from the po-lice about it!?

You did right IMO & If it were me I’d take the attitude of the call handler further.20yrs ago, a mate riding home from work at 2am woke up 7 days later in hospital. They estimated his speed at 100+ but with no other vehicles involved they didn’t prosecute. He hit a shredded HGV tyre carcass just over a brow on a dual carriageway & still suffers some of the injuries.
100+ mph over the brow of a hill? No sympathy here.
That’s 'cause you’re both a ■■■ and an angel
[zb] off Rob ya muppet
But he’s right though isn’t he? 100 mph over a blind hill and he’s taken out by tyre debris, who’s fault is it?
Not saying it’s not his fault, just saying that doesn’t mean he deserves that comment.
We all do daft things now and then, mostly we get away with it, sometimes there’s an accident that, again, we mostly get away with. Every now and then someone will ■■■■ up or do something daft and it will cost them their lives. That isn’t tough ■■■■ or serves their right.
How often has a car cut across your nose?? 9,999 out of 10,000 they’ll get away with it, now and then they may end up with a puncture from the debris in the chevrons or clip your truck, but if they hit your truck and died as a result, would you get out and say “no sympathy, ■■■■ end anyway” ■■? I doubt it very much.

Ah apologies, no he/she doesn’t deserve to die. I would be angry with them though for putting themselves in that situation.

Right
I phoned a while back about a piece of metal on the carriage way … one of the questions i was asked by the operator was … where was i traveling to and from , after all i did report the exact location
Why do they need to know this stuff?
I wish that they would route999 calls to a local operator.I phoned one in from about 10 miles south of Perth and had to speak to an operator in south Wales.I was held up to day near Dunfermline ,car and motor bike .The bike looked O.K. on its centre stand but the car was wrecked on its side.Does any one on here know about it.
Had to call last night. M1 near Newport Pagnell. Bloke walking down hard shoulder in the unlit section with a hiking bag. Operator seemed quite switched on. Wether they has any staff to attend or not is a different matter.
Just phone HATO direct on 0300 123 5000. I phoned them when I witnessed a nice lump on tyre on the motorway. .

I’ve phoned them before and the 101 and to be honest by the time you mess about with them someone’s already hit the debris and killed them selfs. I followed a transit tipper once (at distance) as it drove down the motorway greedy boards up full off kitchen flat pack and builders waste without a sheet on. It was like a rolling road block 3 lanes off slowed traffic keeping a 100 metre distance because this ■■■■ was shedding his load all over the place, flat pack flying through the air I phoned 999 explained what was happening the chap asked if it was an immediate emergency I’m not sure if he was having a dig but like I said to him ATM no but it will bloody cause one in a minute !. If in doubt ring them someone will be grateful you did even if no one else is.
You totally did the right thing. Regardless of the fact it may take 5 minutes to get the call sorted and then someone turn up, it doesn’t matter, still make the call.
As someone said above though, if on an HA road such as the motorway or an HA trunk road, just call the hail number 0300 123 5000 giving the exact marker post. The reason you may see signs on for a whole junction is because someone has called but didn’t look or tell the operator the marker post hence having to set them the whole distance. Far far better to give MP. However if you ring 999, don’t bother as they don’t work with marker posts.
I would love for all of you to visit an RCC and just see what goes on and how it happens. Then maybe buddy a TO patrol. It would give you a better understanding of what goes on.
