only way i could say of scrapping 90hr rule is for the international drivers. my company do this and i want to go over water but only thing that stops me is i dont like being weekended for 45hrs or bit longer depending on the day and country your in (sunday rule etc) a truck unpaid when i could have that time at home with the missus. they should introduce a 7th day drive once a month for those that do short trips across water so they can get back to yard and home compensated with the 24hr or 45hr off depending on week

but then what, work would be planned to use up the available hours, then something would go wrong that means the driver wouldn’t make it home, so do we say a 8th day is needed.
but then what…9th day is needed
but then what…

i see where your comming from but could benift those who are heading back to yard with the load or if going to another destination and yard on route in can be changed over. but its a never ending battle id rather be home than in a service station for 45hrs
why do people think that after you’ve done your 90 hours, a 45 hour rest will make it alright?
if you’ve done your 90 hours by 6pm on thursday, then you’re parked up until sunday midnight.
Yes, scrap it.
Maximum of 56 per week combined with correct use of weekly rest rules is more useful.

I bet people who have answered NO are ENGLISH… LAzy bunch of [zb]. It only seems to be the Irish/Scots & Dutch who want to do hard graft, half the tw@ts on this forum want to lie around doing sweet FA and get paid for it, LIVE IN THE REAL WORLD… People say why do 90hrs+… Well why not? Surely the more you do the more you get paid? Not ■■■■■■ rocket science? Because of this 90hrs a fortnight I lose out on money, yet I have a family, mortgage etc same scenario for probably 95% of people on here, and id be willing to do more if the LAWS allowed it… one of the few rules I agree with is the weekend breaks. Nowts better coming home knowing youve hard grafted over the week and come home to the family to spend time with them and chill out… CIInts on here want money for nothing…
well said that man
i worked hard paid my house off now i work 46 hours a week for the yellow gang and i am bored to tears stuck in the yard

thats why i mentioned sunday movements so if you was to get caught on on the hours after 6pm thursday to 10pm saturday you wouldnt have to be parked up for almost 3 days. But way out of my hands il just plod on as the rules state and plan to best of knowledge with the boss ■■■■ happens at end of day get caught out then just have to make sure im stocked up with goodies
People don’t crash and die because they were bad drivers - they crash and die because they’re working too many damned hours to “earn” what an office waller gets for a 35 hour week FFS!
That’s why I voted “no” in this thread to start with - anything that gives employers an excuse to have us away from home for EVEN MORE HOURS has got to be stopped in it’s tracks!
The only reason we don’t get a 35 hour week @ £500 basic (overtime or not) is because there are too many debt addicts prepared to do it for a lot worse hours & pay than that. With the number retiring within the next decade coupled by the DCPC actually being enforced, the government are going to have to import thousands of new immigrants OR just pay us the “Market forces determined rate” like they’d award to themselves!
Wanna make a difference? - Voting for the main parties that are not hostile to immigration won’t make that difference will it?
Maybe a red-top newspaper has also succeeded into brainwashing the taxpaying public into being “hostile” towards such opposition to immigration (or at least their parties!) as well…
Look at the lack of “broker expose” stories following the Michael Green affair? They couldn’t lock him up, and brush it under the carpet quick enough could they?! “Friendly to Business” politics today is nothing more than
"If you need to be crooked to run a business, we’ll make sure to look the other way!"
“Just make sure you fiddle from those beneath you, and not those above you!”
Scottish no need to be offensive is there

MAKE IT EASY
Max shift length = X + minimum rest before a new shift can be deemed as being started
At home or base minimum rest before starting next shift = 11 hours or Away from home/base = 9 hours
Weekly rest minimum = 36 hours
Max time period between weekly rests = 132 hours
Max work/drive time betweek breaks = 6 hours
Breaks = min time of 15 mins
Max driving time per shift = 10 hours
Driving time breaks to remain as is but if split and the first is over 45 mins then the drive decides whether the driving clock is reset at that point
Scrap POA and RTD

Sack that, there’s nothing wrong with it atm, unless your on a crap wage/greedy/ international or a glory boy. I actually asked a few random lads at work and everyone said if some idiots wanted this changed then they Need they’re head looking at.
WHY IN GODS NAME WOULD YOU WANT TO WORK MORE HOURS!!

Could they be the ones ‘‘out there’’ mountain biking, canoeing, track daying (bikes/cars), 4x4ing list is litteraly endless, then theres the endless chores on the’’ home front’', extensions, loft converts, gardening, etc, etc, they dont turn up for work refreshed, bright eyed bushy tailed, they’re the ones turning up and driving knackered, and not just monday morning
I do my 71 hrs then go carp fishing all weekend, whilst the wife washes my uniform for my next 71hrs! Easy!
you’re right about the ones turning up knackered though! I blame their WIVES!
stresshead. look at it another way.
no one has said anything about working more hours.
i can drive 10 hours over a 12 hour day. some work 15 hours, but they might only drive for less than 7 hours.
if i drive for 56 hours in week one, then take 45 hours+ off, why should i be restricted to not getting home the following week?

Phil, it needs new SIMPLIFED rules for most of the NEW BREED, I know it all, holier than thou brigade who spout BULLCARP on here!
I say back to logbooks ( three, cough cough ) and limiters off and let’s have a free for all, national express included! Outside lane is game!
that’ll sort the drivers from the screwdrivers!

You can bet your wifes top ■■■■■■■■ that if you allowed someone to work & drive for 6 hours without a break, they would, in the same way as now, also you said that if the first part is over 45 then the driver decides. What have you changed Roger? Apart from the fact that the bloke who used to get a 45 hour rest period now gets 36 and the driver who wants to get home must park up for longer.
We can all come up with various scenarios that could get you a jump at the weekend, or make sure you are in a good pub, but the rules have to be enforced, be flexible and suit JIT operations as well as a balanced work / rest period

But as I said earlier, if you had more hours available then you’ll get more work planned. It doesn’t really matter what the limit is, you’ll be running up to it. I bet you’d be stranded a few hours from home the same amount of times as it is now or if you can do 2 x 56

The only time I get a decent finish is when I have no more drive time left, this is the time I use to recharge my battery’s. I know 100% that if there was any deviation from the existing rules my employer would find a way to explot it, and it’s only ever a bad thing for the driver.

Tweak it then - make it 36 for home/base and 24 for not
Max SHIFT time would be the difference with a minimum rest between shifts
Depending what the max shift time is then it could be easier and safer
Make it 56 per week. Many times have i just been short of getting back to the yard.
Drivers on international work defo. Sit 2 hours away from home for 45 plus any payback, at least I am getting paid for it.
With you Limeyphil on this one…
