9 or 11 off for free......

Hi.

Right…I was doing a night run up to scotland…As im a night driver. Now once unloaded i had my 9 or 11 off obviously which ever one was needed.then head back down to the midlands in the night. No night out payment.

To be honest no night out payment is rubbish but hey its one of them…the other day i got speaking to the day driver and he tells me he gets paid for night out?Obviously i am annoyed with this.

What advice about sorting this issue would fellow truckers give /use?

sounds like you need to be asking for a day out payment

You are entitled to the same as the day driver

I f you don’t get an equivalent allowance, don’t do it again

Its not just for nights out, you should claim it any time you take a daily rest period away from base, or don’t do it :unamused:

It’s either night money or paid straight through at the normal hourly rate

Plenty of companies have a system where you have to request night out money often on a form or time-sheet, so have you asked for the money and been refused ?

I don’t get this. If you go up to Scotch from the Midlands, have 11hrs off and set off back in the night then surely you must be a day driver with an early start? There’s only 24hrs in a day, 13 after you’ve taken your 11 and 6-8hrs driving plus a couple loading/unloading/doing paperwork etc only leaves a few hours inbetween parking up and setting off again. I would say it would be a night out in Scotch and paid straight through from when you started in the morning til when you parked up at night.

It certainly seems a backwards way of doing it though. If it was a Scotch based driver it would be like I said, a day run with an early start.

just sit back and take the shafting, which it looks like you have done from the start in any case.

Restart at either 6 pm or 730pm.Run down to carlisle Reload then back to midlands early sun morning!

Tempted to not do it this weekend as day out is not part of my contract. It only states night work etc.

You say you were annoyed :open_mouth: , well no ■■■■!
Did you challenge them on it before you came on here, and wtf came over you to agree to it in the first place? :open_mouth: (unless of course you are on an hourly rate for the 9 or 11 off)
No offence mate, but if you are daft enough to sit back and let them make a ■■■■ out of you, then they sure as hell will carry on doing it for as long as you let them while laughing their dicks off at you at the same time.
. Sorry to be harsh but you did ask
