ok i have search everywhere for a answer to this, the question was if you have the night in the yard ie your transport base does it have to be 11 hours or can you still reduce i was asked this and for some reason i cant seem to find the answer anywhere the bloke who asked me seems convinced that it has to be 11 but as i have never come accross it before someone please help.
I’m not one of the site gurus on tacho regs but I seem to remeber something about having a daily rest at base being different in the old regs but I’m probably getting confused with something else - as usual

It wasn’t daily rest that was different at base under the old regs, it was weekly rest. Under the old regs you could only reduce to between 36 and 24 hours away from base and I believe it was this which lead to the myth you cannot reduce daily rest at base/home.

You don’t have to search too far to find the answer to your question, it is clearly stated in any copy of the regulations.
In there you will see it states you can reduce to 9 hours, 3 times between weekly rest periods. That’s it, that’s all it says regarding reduced daily rest. There are no other restrictions in addition to the 3 times thing mentioned, and if no other restrictions are mentioned then they don’t exist. So no , ‘You can’t reduce at base/home,’ or, ‘You can’t take two/three 9’s in a row,’ or any other nonsense that drivers/transport managers spout. If these people cannot point out their claim in the regulations then it doesn’t exist. Simple really.
