9 hour rest/break

I was talking to a fellow driver on the ferry recently who said, a mate of his was fined in Belgium for having more than the required 9 hour rest breaks and was fined 1300 euros, apparently you are now only allowed 3 in 4 weeks, personally I think its more driver ■■■■■■■■, but did wonder if anyone has heard anything to the contrary. He was quite convincing though !!

He might be talking ■■■■■■■■ or misunderstood what he was being done for. The rules haven’t changed and it is still a minimum of one regular and one reduced in any two consecutive weeks. You aren’t limited to only 3 in 4 weeks provided that is met

If he wasn’t just talking ■■■■■■■■ then I suspect he has been fined for not meeting the above requirement and has gone a couple of weeks with only reduced rest periods.

If it’s a 9 hour rest period then I assume he means daily rest period not weekly rest period. I’m sure the DVSA would publicise such a major change in daily rest periods.

I reckon it’s driver BS, probably started as a story about the Belgium authorities not allowing drivers to have their full weekly rest periods in the cab.

So he was, I’ll stop drinking now.

Now I’ve read it again it just confirms the driver was talking ■■■■■■■■. It’s entirely possible to legally squeeze at least 20 reduced daily rest periods into 4 weeks and the rules haven’t changed.

think i’ll stick to what I do best …

STOP LISTENING TO MMTM BULL ■■■■. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Coffee pass the bottle please
