9-5 on class 1

Okay not 9-5 but what kind of, and how many jobs are there out there on class 1 on a ‘normal’ day shift?

I don’t expect to earn the big bucks on this type of shift but want more than the class 2 money I’m on at the moment.

7.30am - 6ish atm Mon-Fri. Contracted 50 hr week. No overtime. £9p/h. Not great but better lifestyle than most with those hours. This is on the books with firm, not agency.

Supermarket work.

Pallet network stuff, which I do, is normally office hours but money isn’t the best. Your current class 2 rate is better than mine for class 1, although I’m paid for my breaks which slightly makes up for the crap hourly rate.

Supermarket work is 24/7 nowadays

And hell. I got in at 4pm latest. Out at 7:30 for Liverpool (from the Midlands). Shop closed by the time I got there.

If you do pallet stuff then try to go for a subsidiary to the pallet network. One of those “shareholder members”. Always been better to me.

That’s what I’m doing at moment, pallet network and I do like it. Not pulling home more than 1550 a month though.

Not much more than me!

But I do 8/4, 1 run to Leicester, maybe another run to somewhere 20 mins away, either in the truck or the van.

If I wasn’t looking to buy a house I’d do this job forever! :grimacing:

Much prefer working the graveyard shifts… less idiots on the road…

I start at 20:00 fin.4:30 -5:00

I work for a skip firm driving an artic taking waste to landfill or sorted recyclables to processing centres.
6-30 16-30 Monday to Friday and every other Saturday morning.
Not glamorous and can be dirty and smelly but it fits in with my family life well and money’s ok

I used to work for a skip firm doing 6-3/3:30 mon-fri money was good for cat 2 as well

A day job on containers is a pretty good bet. Look for any container haulier based near a rail terminal, they’ll probably have day jobs where you just do local jobs to & from the train. You’ll probably have to start a bit earlier than half 7 though, maybe 5-7am.

I’d never give up my Mon-Fri day job. ■■■■■■■■ to working weekends & bank holidays when the families all at home!

Id rather days off in the week,my wife only works part time so we can go places without having to put up with the weekend masses.
Although I only work Saturdays we don’t deliver on Sunday’s,but I get 2 weekdays off too most weeks so only work 4 day weeks 3 weeks out of 5

If my missus had weekdays off I’d probably share your opinion, but she’s in the office game full time so will pretty much always be 9-5 Mon-Fri. I’m quite happy to sacrifice earning potential to be at home with her evenings & weekends.

I do pallet network average day is 8:00 until 18:30/1900 work is a bit crap but the hours are generally better than general haulage.
