There has got to be a better way of shutting lanes then 800 600 400 200 then closed.Last night it took me
over hour and a half 
on the M6 junction 4 to junction 6.The highways agency had put a
sign on the matric telling there was delays of 20 mins .Do they look at traffic or just throw a dart at a board
then what ever number it hits thats the umber they put up.
PS if i put my hazards light on dose that mean i can drive down the hardshoulder. This was said as a joke.
Regardless of umber, or your hazards light on dose. Might be worth staying off hardshoulder.

Maybe the Swiss way would work over here, 500mts before road works or a lane closure you have be in the lane that’s open, if your caught out there after the sign it’s a big fine, so there’s no last minute pulling in, it seems to work.

It realy annoys me.
I am not changing lane straight away. Giving some time to cars go past then at 600 change lane and some clever motorists trying to undertake to get in front of you! If you wait any longer theres chance to get to cones as no one will let you in.

but its not is it.it starts with a sign that says workforce on road.then further down a men at work sign,then further down 800 yds sign etc etc unil 200yds sign.then another 200yds down the taper starts.at no point in this process are you faced with a sudden lane closure.its all down to crap driving and not the traffic management

yeah on friday night it went down to one lane there between 4 and 6
then a lorry broke down in the one lane that was open
thats why such a long delay
